For example if I buy a tempest, and just follow the Adire recommended example of building it would I need to tune my sub? I would go with Vented SBB4.

What would you do to tune a sub? Is it structural? like the size of the box, or if it is vented would it be the length of the tube?. Or is it something you do with the Amp?

Thanks,
Marc

No.

Read the article, but the driver you use, the size of your enclosure, the number, length, and size of ports ALL make a difference in tuning your sub.

This isn't like tuning a guitar or piano.

The enclosure is tuned to a frequency. With a ported box it's a function of the size of the box, and the size of the port. With a sealed box, it's simply the size of the box.

With the Adire SBB4 design you do nothing but copy their instructions. The design is already been 'tuned'.
