I am about to purchase this setup. I'm pretty set on what I want, i've done my research and this seems to be the best way to go for the money. I'm basically going to listen to music only and want a lot of good sounding bass. This will be placed in a midsized living room but looking for a good sound for house parties.

Receiver: HARMAN KARDON HK-3480
Mains: JBL E90s
Subwoofer: JBL E250P

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Why do you need the sub? The E90's have dual 8" drivers and go down to 36hz. Have you considered the E100's, they have dual 10" drivers and reach down to 33hz and would probably save some $$ compared to the E90's & E250.

Buy them and form your own - no one else's will matter.

I say smaller mains and dual subs because the subs have amps - increasing power down low and placing the subs properly will provide better bass.

You don't want to ride the tone controls (bass knob) all day long. With one or two subs, you can leave the tone controls flat and dial in the bass using the sub amp gain.
