A forgotten gem. Hope you like it. I haven't seen it in decades but remember being impressed by it. Picked up the novel last year and read it. It's quite racy for its time. The movie was toned down a bit, even though it was pre-code. Margaret Sullavan is one of my favorite actresses, and Frank Borzage's direction is fine.

I got Iron Man 3 3D Blu for Christmas and bought for myself shortly after--as in the last two days after--Mary Poppins and Man In The Dark 3D.

If you include my presents to myself since Thanksgiving: The Logan's Run/Omega Man/Soylent Green triple feature, Safety Last, The Graduate, Gosford Park, Eyes Without a Face, Firefly, Existenz, John Carpenter's Escape movies, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Das Boot, The Blues Brothers, Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast, Back to School, 13 Assassins, Night of the Hunter, Investigation of a Citizen under Suspicion, Charade, The Trouble with Harry, JCVD, and The Grand Illusion. B&N's late-year sales made a lot of that happen.

Yeah...probably like many of you...my family and friends kinda hate the fact that they can't get me Bu-ray discs at Christmas because I generally tend to get myself whatever I want (which is always too much!).

But I got my wife a whole slew (eight to be precise) of pressed DVD sets of The Amazing Race which went on a great sale at Amazon several months ago. I just checked and they are each listed in the $32-$35 range. I got them for less than half that!

I also got Blu-ray sets of the complete Twilight Zone and Dick Van Dyke Show on an equally amazing sale at DVD Planet which went under the tree.

And, my wife and I were in Target the day Elysium was released so we picked up the steel book for $22.99 (I have since price-matched it against their own price this week of $15). So she was able to wrap and give me that.

And I also wrapped up Blu-ray Audio discs of Supertramp's Breakfast in America and Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong which I had purchased a couple of months ago.

I also didn't get many Blus for Christmas because of my buying habits, but I did get Warm Bodies and It's in the Bag.

I received WOLVERINE 3D, THE HOBBIT SE 3D and THE RUTLES ANTHOLOGY. However, I did give my wife a couple of titles that we both like, including the 16th Season of THE SIMPSONS and, sadly DVD-only, the first (and hopefully not only) season of HBO's FAMILY TREE.

I tried to give myself 'To Be or Not to Be' from Barnes and Noble's half-price Criterion sale. Ordered a couple of months ago in plenty of time for Christmas but B & N still haven't put it in the post.
However, Amazon.se came up trumps with the complete Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes set ... delivered two days before Christmas just one week after ordering.

A small haul this year compared to others but I'm thinking quality over quantity. Mary Poppins, Pacific Rim and The World's End for me. Happy New Year everyone!

I didn't receive any BluRay discs this year (or anything HT related. They know I get all I need/want myself) but I did get my brother the complete Star Trek original series on BR. I hope he's O.K. with the changes they made from the original broadcasts. Why do they do that anyway? Can't they just leave well enough alone?
