There are carbon fiber door inserts and the gauge cluster panel looks like it may be carbon fiber but it may also be a textured plastic.
It's plastic made to look like what people think carbon fiber looks like.

So, I'm not actually driving this, but I know there are a few Miata enthusiasts hereabouts.

It's a Miata.

With a 525 hp V8.

Yup.

I ended up giving my wife the Captiva SUV and I bought my moms loaded 2009 Genesis sedan, only has 24,000 miles on it. :) (not actual car, but looks like this one, but with dark tinted windows)

Used to enjoy German comfort, reliability and interior quality with VW Golf and BMW 302. Neither were too quick. After playing Colin Mcrae Rally game I just had to get a Subaru Impreza and will probably get another as I will soon need a car. It was fairly economical while in everyday traffic. So much fun on long summer nights in the countryside. They look pretty terrible, plasticy interiors but that turbo and sound is a game changer, especially as they don't cost much used. Will have to look into insurance costs soon though, which might put a spanner in the works..

Just traded my 2008 Toyota Sequoia w/ 180,000 miles (aka The Bus) for a 2014 VW Tiguan w/ 34,000 miles, in immaculate condition. Got $14,000 for the Sequoia, paid $22,000 for the Tiguan. Still has 2 years of factory warranty left!

Smaller but very nice and roomy and wallet is a little fatter with better gas mileage. Kids grown or almost grown, just didn't need the big SUV anymore. The Sequoia never had any issues, hoping for some good years from the Tiguan. Love the Panoramic moonroof!

Sadly, not much right now. Was in an accident on the 2nd, not a big impact, no injuries, no air-bags and the car is drivable. But I only take it on short trips to the grocery store, etc. no more than 1/2 mile. Something happened underneath and it's very "clunky", right rear wheel is slightly tilted inward, steering wheel is pointed about 20° to the left. 18 year old Monte Carlo, but it runs perfect so I've just kept it.

But this may be its death. Getting it looked at soon and a friend has friends who may fix it for free, so I wait and see.

I really need to upgrade to something newer and maybe this is the sign.

It's a Miata.

The two great classic sports cars of the past quarter century must be the Miata and the Boxster. A proper garage has one of each. The best thing is that I'm in for less than $20K for BOTH of them combined.

I briefly saw the new Fiat Spyder in a TV commercial and thought "going after the Miata?" Turns out it basically IS a Miata, with a different body and engine.
