"Tags" have been a forum feature for a year or two now. I still don't understand what they're for or how to use them. Can someone give me the skinny? What confuses me most is the tags seem unrelated to what I'm posting. For example, here I think I'd tag this thread about "feedback" and "forum" and how to". But the only tags are scattershot listing of movie studios, "subwoofer", and "ztagmania"...???Can I create my own tags to use? Or maybe tags should be removed? (I'm a fan of cutting out vestigial appendages :) )

Tags.

Tags are a way of not only labeling a thread, but enabling members to
quickly find related content by clicking on the tag.

For instance, this is how I use the tags everyday...

All my press releases get tagged with the corresponding studio.

So, if I tag "Star Trek TNG To Be Released" with a Paramount tag, members
can click on that Paramount tag and see every topic that relates to Paramount
that also has that tag.

Personally, I see it of more use for the studios that read this forum to be
able to click on their own tag and quickly summarize everything in discussion
related to their product.

There are tags for 3D Blu-ray which when clicked on, will take you to everything
we have tagged related to that content.

Ztagtest is an interesting one. It's something we purposely gave a name that
has no meaning so nobody (but us) would use it. Use that tag and that thread
goes to the front page area under Featured Forum Content. We just don't want
our members figuring that one out.

Now you bring up a great tag idea....how to. We could certainly create and tag
relevant threads that have to do with home theater tutorials.

I hope this helps you understand the tagging system. Let me know if you have
any additional questions or suggestions of new tags we can add.
