No, just noticed it was a reseller - the dispatch notice, though, was the standard amazon UK dispatch. I understand now why there was no option for speedier shipping.

    He actually says, "Par kits."

    I love this movie to bits! It's just so . . . . casual.

I'm in the UK & find it much cheaper to order from the country that's releasing the blu, usually Amazon France or Germany (Germany usually works out cheaper). I used to order stuff straight from America, but these days I tend to order American stuff from Amazon UK Marketplace sellers. It's just so easy to order from all over the world these days, just a click of a mouse.

Thanks John, I will look into ordering from Germany as well. Sounds much more reasonable.

Amazon UK have Hatari for £30 which is about $40 and they claim it has 3 discs. Anyone know what's on the other discs? Anyway, at that price I think I'll wait - at least until Mr Haines tells us which way or that way.

That's just a greedy marketplace seller (Great-DVD's), why pay £30 pounds when you can buy it direct from Amazon Germany for 14 euros. It's only three weeks to wait. And three discs must be a mistake, it has to be just one disc. I'm not that fussy about this film, but I shall be ordering Samson & Delilah & El Dorado (Which I think is released in France today). I saw Gunfight At The OK Corral on the telly in HD the other week & thought it looked superb, so hopfully that Paramount will get a Blu-ray release before too long.

Edit. I see the same marketplace seller has got, Samson & Delilah & El Dorado for sale at the same price. I can't blame them for making a profit, but I'm happy to wait.

Hmm, I'm a little hesitant to purchase El Dorado from Amazon Germany. There is no image for the BD up yet, and the description lists it as Region B/2. Guess I can wait for reviews of the disc, before purchasing...

I would certainly expect it to be region-free. I have region-free players so I don't really care, but I'll let you know as soon as I get mine, if you don't hear in the meantime.

If there´s no new info I´ll let you know about Region Code when I get the Blu-Ray on October 4th.

Btw does someone got the El Dorado Blu Ray. Since it´s an Paramount Release too, maybe it helps what to expect about the picture quality.

Actually, the German El Dorado is available September 25 according to Amazon.de. Hatari! and Samson & Delilah are set for October 4. So, Metty, you can inform us even earlier! The French El Dorado (released September 11) is listed as region free, so I'm sure the German will be too.

Good one, but knowing how Hollywood is these days, they'd actually might make it.

I wish I had good things to say about this Blu-ray, but alas... Color is nice (and looks NOTHING like the color in those caps above - big surprise), but there is simply no detail in the transfer - it's soft and kind of ugly-looking, and I'm here to tell you that this film in IB Technicolor was stunning, with gorgeous photography by Russell Harlan. What a shame.

Can you confirm if the disc is region-free, Bruce?

Guess I'll hold off for a (hopeful) stateside release. Maybe Warner Bros. will improve on the import.

Wow, quite disappointing. I really have been looking forward to this release for months (and wishing for it for years). The DVD is pretty bad so this will be some kind of improvement, I guess. :(
