Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definate price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including. In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. I have a lovely wife and a five-year-old son I'd rather spend time with. Please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like I do!

* BE CAREFUL! Babe - Special Edition, Babe 2-Film "Pig Pack", Casper, & Holes are all available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen versions...get the correct one.

* Non-OAR discs are left off the Roundup, whenever they've been identified in advance. Example: The Watchers/Watchers 2 Double-Feature. This does NOT apply to markdowns, which are simply cut-and-paste from other lists.

* Best Buy: NOTE that Smallville - Season 1 is shown in their flyer to be $49.99, but their on-line price at BestBuy.com is shown to be $43.99! I can't explain this, so I am guessing that this means that either there is a special online-only price (which you can get by doing the online purchase and choosing the in-store pickup) or else there will be different prices in different regions of their chain. I suspect the latter, since they are doing a LOT of this recently.

* Best Buy: Save $5 instantlly with combined purchase of Holes & Daddy Day Care.

* Circuit City: Save $6 instantly with combined purchase of the Holes DVD & CD soundtrack.

Disappointing discounts for Smallville. With only a $65 retail price I was hoping to see more prices closer to $40. (But then I don't think the B5 discounts were all that great either, so maybe it is a WB thing.) Maybe BJs will come through. I'm hoping that the local WalMart will have Holes for $14.63. I noticed in an advertisement on TV that the Holes DVD they showed there was fullscreen. I hope widescreen is not hard to find.

I don't see They Live in Best Buy's online circular.

Best Buy simply didn't advertise it, being a low-expectation reissue of a catalog title. I strongly doubt it's found in-stores very quickly, except maybe at Borders and Tower Records. Same for Serpent & The Rainbow, unless they both tag along in drop-shipments of the Babe films. But no doubt about it, I'm looking at Universal press materials right now, and 9/23 is definately the street date.

Galen, something else to check is that Best Buy is selling "Best in Show" and "Guffman" for $12.99 each this week. "Wind" is $17.99 which means all 3 can be had for $43.97 which is a couple bucks cheaper than Amazon's price above.

Also, as an FYI Sam's Club is selling season 1 of Lucy for $67.77 which is way, way cheaper that most other places. I don't know about Costco since there's no stores in my area.
