The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain!
If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

The Specials

--Prices are kind of all-over-the-place today. More disparity than usual it seems.

--With that said, if you are interested in the following titles, and are planning on Best Buy purchases, you MAY want to check out bb.com as they've got some cheaper on-line prices and maybe you can do in-store pick-ups and save a couple of bucks: American Dad: V5 ($24.99), Family Guy: V8 ($31.99), Book of Eli BD ($24.99), Youth in Revolt BD ($19.99).

--Save $10 @ Best Buy when you buy BOTH Family Guy: Volume 8 AND American Dad: Volume 5 on DVD. Items must be purchased on same receipt to receive savings.

Best Buy also has EXCLUSIVE CONTENT on the following titles: Family Guy: V8 (Includes digital copy of 4 Stewie episodes) and American Dad: V5 (Includes digital copy of 4 Peter episodes. While supplies last.

If you haven't seen Law Abiding Citizen its easily worth a blind buy at that price. I bought it blind a few months ago based on Michael's review and wasn't disappointed. Amazon is already price matching:

Ultimate Electronics

as spotted in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday June 13:

2-for-$20 BluRays:

Leon (The Professional)

Labyrinth

Dark Crystal

30 Days of Night

Resident Evil 3

Resident Evil 2

Quaratine

Men In Black

Close Encounters

...and a few others; I'm going by memory. I bought Leon and Men In Black.

$13.99 BluRays:

X-Men 3 (warning: contains Brett Ratner)

...I bought it with a $5 coupon. Wouldn't have touched it if it weren't for that, and for the star of Juno running through walls.

$8.99 BluRays:

Michael Clayton

The Girl Next Door (Elisha Cuthbert)

Star Trek films (individual ones, not the boxes)

Truman Show (don't buy it, re: the review here on HTF)

$6.99 BluRays

Hellboy cartoon, and some other Anchor Bay b-titles including The Girl Next Door (NOT the Elishaa Cuthbert one!)

I also saw at the registers a shrink-wrapped 2-pack of Gattaca+The Fifth Element (BluRay) for $19.95.

NOTE: The $10 Pirates of the Caribbean (BluRays) ended on Saturday (yesterday). They're no longer on sale here, try BestBuy.

Hey, I liked X-Men 3 (although it was quite a bit more violent than the first two, I thought).

Nice to see a few new titles showing up in the sub-$10 BD sales.

Incidentally, the Disney Store deal on the Tim Burton Alice combo pack runs through the end of the month -- $26.99 plus a decent-sized (18x24 or so, IIRC) poster and a coupon for $10 off your next purchase (expires June 30). Combine that with the $10 DMR coupon (which expires sometime this week, maybe tomorrow), and it's like getting it (and the poster) for $6.99.

Assuming you were at Crossgates Commons, Adam...what did you think of the store/deals, etc.

Yeah, that's the one. It's bizarre, both because I see the ghost of Circuit City past, so to speak, and because it's very different than the Circuit City was. The media section is segregated into its own section with security towers at the only entrance inside the door at the far left, like you see in a Barnes & Noble but much denser with a much better selection. The divide is probably 50-50 between DVDs and BDs. A couple commissioned salesmen are posted at regular intervals throughout the rest of the store, ready to pounce on unsuspecting customers. The media section has its own checkout counter.

The pricing seems to be designed, much like Walmart's, to mock the very idea of a Weekly Roundup. Aside from the half-dozen or so big releases in a given week, deals seem to vary from store to store. The Crossgates Commons location also had 2-for-$20, $13.99 and $8.99 BluRay specials, but there was very little overlap with the titles Will posted.

Ah, good to know. In that case I won't post titles here, as it wouldn't make sense to get people's hopes up. (Not that I planned to go every week, but, if I did.) A bit of surprise in what may be in store (pun intended) can be nice.

Maybe I should hope for UE to inhabit the "ghost" space that CC left behind in my nearby shopping center in downtown Brooklyn. Not sure why BB has not done that already -- there are plenty of BBs in Manhattan, but only 2 in the farthest reaches of Brooklyn where I (and probably most folks living near downtown) almost never go.

Anyhoo, interesting to see the UE pricing, etc.

And thanks as usual for the weekly roundup, Mike and Pat.

Anyone here see THE STEPFATHER (1987) Blu available at any B&M store? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks in advance.
