Lasers = LasersEdge.com This is another one week experiment. Please leave feedback on your thoughts about the inclusion of LE in the grid.

For some reason, various on-line sources and e-tailers are listing the title “The Thief and The Cobbler” as “Arabian Knight”…even though the cover art prominently displays the Thief/Cobbler title.

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed advertisements, the Sunday of the week of release (so as to catch any week-of-release sale prices). All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price. If a price is marked "$_N/A_" in the grid, it means that this title is not shown as available on that chain's website or perhaps in their ads...but it COULD still be in-stores!

$_"LP" means the advertisement says "Low Price", and $_"HP" means the advertisement says "Hot Price". Use of either of these in the Roundup grid indicates that I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I only include the titles I feel like including (or the ones Dave tells me he's looking for ;o)). In fact, the titles are pretty much the ones I'm personally interested in, with few exceptions. I don't get paid for this, and I don't have time to devote to doing every DVD. So, please don't complain. If there is a title not included in the Roundup that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone...like Dave & I do!

Note that Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii. Also note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the standard Roundup: they set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is not a way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. When it comes to Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices mentioned at all, just remember that "Your Mileage May Vary".

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Ladder 49 AND The Ring: Collector’s Set are available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one.

-------------------------

I’m sure many of you have noticed the inclusion of LasersEdge.com in this week’s grid. Let’s continue the discussion which started in last week’s RoundUp thread. I have been asking, to anyone who reads the RoundUp, the following question:

If YOU were putting together the Weekly RoundUp...what sources would you find most useful in determining your DVD-buying patterns?

There’s been a fair amount of discussion in the last couple weeks’ RoundUps if you’d like to go back and see what’s already been discussed.

-------------------------
And now a word from our sponsor….

If anyone who reads the RoundUp is not aware of this, running the HTF is not free for Parker and Ron. That is why there is advertising throughout the forum and there has been the occasional membership fund drive. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you folks of all the reasons we benefit from keeping the USS HTF afloat. But, you might not be aware…THERE IS AN EASY WAY FOR YOU TO HELP!

According to Ron & Parker, many members enter the HTF through the index page or by clicking their own shortcut directly into a favorite forum. If members would simply link to the Portal Page when they start their visit to the HTF, that act alone would bring revenue to the forum. While it would also be nice if you wanted to click on some of the advertisers’ links and check out their deals and sales (that form of “window shopping” would bring even more revenue to the forum), the simple act of landing on the portal page registers a “hit” or “impression” that creates revenue for the HTF.

I was unaware of this until recently and have since changed my desktop shortcuts on the different computers I use to link to the Portal Page. I bet doing that over the past week or so has resulted in several dozen more “hits” from me alone. And, I thought I would pass along my newly-gained knowledge to anyone else who might not know the score.

So, if you want to help out, its easy…and will help keep the HTF in business.

Thanks for all the hard work you do! Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your POV), nothing for me this week.

As far as sources, I'm personally content with what you already have, as we don't have a great variety of stores around here. Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target are about it. Walmart, maybe?

Friends season 9 for sure and maybe Ladder 49 for me.

May also have to get this one:

Best Buy is also running an incredible deal this week on the 40th anniversary edition of Mary Poppins. Just $14.99!

I have the origional and I believe this edition has a differant aspect ratio. So I am not sure what is correct.

(Once again, an invaluable resource...)

Friends: Season Nine
Ladder 49 (blind buy)
The Ring: Collectors Set (I'm unsure on this one - I already own the original release. Any reviews on this one yet?)

(And I've changed my bookmarks as well. I was unaware of that as well.)

I thought the Incrediables was purpose to come out this week? Well since that isn't this week...there is nothing for me to purchase (other then Bambi that was delayed due to a good deal on Star Fox Assault). Thanks anyway Mike.

Thanks, Mike. That Friends deal is tempting but too much to throw down at once for the series. When season 10 comes out, I'm sure they'll have a similar (if not slightly better) deal at BB. I'll wait until then and see.

So, nothing for me this week. I'll probably pick up SBTB: New Class S2 later on since the prices won't go up on that after this week.

Columbo S2!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!

oh, and "just one more thing..."

If you are in a market where a new Target store is opening this week, the weekend papers will probably be running an insert that includes a coupon for $5 off any purchase of $25 or more...the coupon runs thru 3/20.

A rare nothing week for me, except an opinion. Continue to include Lasers Edge - they seem quite competitive, overall better than Amazon.

Thanks Mike.

A light week sandwiched between two very heavy weeks.

Just Columbo for me this week.

A heads up about Laser's Edge. Those are pre-order prices. Most of them will go up starting on Tuesday, so if you want the prices listed in the grid, you should order them by Monday.

For those contemplating the Friends bundle at BB, remember the Warner Bros. promo going on now where you get a $50 rebate for buying 6 various TV series. That would drop the price down to the $112 range for all nine seasons (+tax). That's about $13-ish for each season.

edit: I found a link to the rebate form here . The forms are also in newer series coming out like Night Court...not sure if there'll be one in Friends S9.

All Wal-Marts should have Mary Poppins cheaper then Best Buy, I believe the price is $13.88. Not only Mary Poppins, but the 2-Disc versions of Bug's Life, Monster Inc. and Finding Nemo, great deal for people who haven't picked them up yet. Oh and they are all on Rollback, my guess is they might be clearing out all the two disc sets and just make them one disc sets so Disney can make more money.

My wallet is happy since there is nothing for me this week.:)

And to answer the question, the stores you have listed now are more than enough for me. Outside of Borders, Barnes And Noble (which are usually more expensive anyway), and Wal Mart (which has that wacky regional pricing), you cover all the stores in my area. Awesome job as always!

And for the record, I always enter through the Portal Page too.
