The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

That War of the Worlds blu-ray is terribly overpriced. You can order it direct from Amazon.co.uk for around US$27.

I believe it's the same release, Best Buy just gets a one week jump on all of the other retailers.

Desk Set and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir showed up on my doorstep tonight. I'll pick up The Wolverine at some point when it's lower in price...by, like, half. Same goes for The Simpsons...I enjoy the show and will collect every season, but when they hit $15 or $20. Maybe at Half Price Books or the used bin at FYE. I don't need them right now. Ditto for the Iron Man/Hulk movie.

Thankfully, I'm taking this week off from buying anything. After a desk, desk chair, Christmas plane ticket and an upcoming laptop purchase, I need to put all my cards on ice for a while.

Thanks Mike!!

I'll be picking up The Simpsons: Season Sixteen this week. I'll get Anchorman either on sale closer to the release of the sequel or I'll ask Santy Claus for it. And like the cheapskate that I am, I'll wait for the next Barnes And Noble sale to get Nashville.

Thanks for the prices, Mike! :)

Sheriff Bart: You'd do it for Randolph Scott.

Crowd: Randolph Scott!

Speaking of Randolph Scott, the Jesse James disc is now lowered to $11.78 at Amazon.

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike, and for the links to the reviews. I'm busy trying to finish up the Fox Vote Your Choice selections before tackling my other assignments for the week: The Wolverine and The Simpsons, neither of which have arrived yet.

Scott: The Region B Heaven's Gate has features the Criterion lacks, mainly the important documentary "Final Cut"For those looking for Nashville and Investigation of a Citizen, Barnes and Noble is going to run (on the 10th I believe) a Buy One Get One Free sale, mainly to promote those two titles that just missed the big sale. Hold off if you want both or really any two Criterions.

Depending on coupons available and whether everything will be back to full MRSP, and if they will let you use a coupon on a B1G1 deal -- sometimes they have, sometimes not -- it may be more advantageous to wait until 12/17 when there is supposed to be a 40% off everything. Generally there are some pretty heavy % off coupons the week before Christmas. Throwing out options to consider.Plus Grey Gardens and the big Scorsese Rescued Films boxset (Touki Bouki, Redes, A River Called Titas, Dry Summer, Trances, and The Housemaid) are due on 12/10

Rite-Aid, of all places, is advertising The Wolverine and Smurfs 2 on DVD this week for $16.99 each. You probably need their savings card.

Best you can do for the War of the Worlds with Liam Neeson as the narrator is the audio CD. (It will play anywhere.)

One of the reviews for the blu-ray said that it played in a U.S. PS3. I'll check for region A compatibility and let you know.
