...TTT: EE... Same story here at my Walmart in San Antonio. Was really expecting it to be less than $24.99 and was suprised to find it priced at $27.83. I ended up picking up my copy at Target for $24.99.
Ditto in Houston (sort of). Walmart wanted $27.99, so I picked it up at Best Buy for $24.99 with no price match or coupons involved -- that was their price for this week.

At my Wal-Mart tonight:
(Actually, Jeff Peterson & Scott_J's Wal-Mart in Crossgates Commons!)

TTT:EE $22.99!
Tomb Raider 2 $14.44!
Simpsons Christmas DVD $9.99 (PM'd Circuit City)
Beatles - Let It Be Naked CD $11.99 (PM'd Circuit City)

The TTT Gift Set was in the $56-$57 range.

Thanks for the roundup, Dave.

For the benefit of anybody else in Northern Nevada (and to rub it in for everyone else :b), I wanted to share the James Bond collection prices at my local WalMart (North Reno):

Volume II : $47.77
Volume III: $69.88

Total (incl tax): $126.48

That's roughly $9.75/movie, which is just about what these editions should cost, IMO. This is the only store I've seen charging different prices for each volume ... I'd assume the inclusion of DAD in vol III drives up the wholesale price a bit for that set.

What a fun adventure today was! My Circuit City visit was a classic. Get this: They advertised a "2-pack" of Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider 2 for around $22 (if memory serves). Not seeing any actual "pack", I just picked up one copy of each DVD, and thought nothing of it. I then grabbed the Bruce Springsteen Barcelona concert DVD and The Essential Bruce Springsteen 3-CD set (buy both for $25), Santa Clause 2, Beatles Let It Be Naked CD, TTT, and the Dave Matthews Band Live in Central Park CD. I carry this load up to the register, and...

Both the clerk and a manager refused to give me the "2-pack" price for the two Tomb Raider DVDs!!! I told them, "Look, the only difference is tape!", but they just said, "Sorry, we're out of stock." Idiots. I left them holding all those items, in the middle of the main isle, announced (loudly) that I was going down the road to price match at Best Buy, and did just that!

So, I got all those items, plus the $5 off for picking up TTT+Sinbad, plus the Reward Zone points. It will take a lot to get me to go back to CC.

Best Buy price matched every deal (even though their Tomb Raider 2-pack included the bonus DVD), and the total bill came to $115. Not bad for six DVD titles and 3 multi-CD sets!! :D

What a week....

Dave - Thanks once again for your hard work and time invested in the Weekly Roundup :emoji_thumbsup:

Picked-up at the local Wal-Mart (Corona, CA):

Tomb Raider 2 - $13.88
Sinbad - $13.88
Santa Clause 2 - $13.88

Passed on the LOTR: TT - WM had it priced at ~ $28. I'll have to swing by the Moreno Valley store to get it for ~ $23.

Santa Clause 2 had a sticker for $2 off if purchased with a variety of soaps, cleaners, etc. I picked-up a 2-pack of Lever bar soap for $1.67 and saved $2. Whoo-Hoo - SC2 for a net cost of $13.55 and 2 free bars of soap!

Went to Wal-Mart to pick a couple things up. Bought the West Wing for $44.34 and TTT:EE for $24.97.

I'm surprised Wal-Mart (Target, too) isn't getting the Adult Swim titles. Some head honcho at Wal-Mart Corporate probably thinks it's a softcore porn reference.

Best Buy is getting a complaint letter from me for their continued downward spiral in customer service.

Stopped in around 1.30p to pick up Two Towers, Let It Be Naked, Concert for George (DVD), and Lennon Legend.

- Had to look for Naked. No copies on the New CD Release wall nor on the aisle displays. They were in the Beatles section, of course, but at knee level! Saw them just as I was walking away.

- Over to the DVD section and not a Two Towers in sight. Anywhere. Checked the Music Video section and no George or Lennon. Finally a Blue Shirt asked if I was finding everything ok. "uh, no... Two Towers? Concert for George? Lennon Legend?" He politely walked me over to the increasingly annoying New Release table in an extremely congested area of the store (why do they need to make the walkways impassible with display tables in the middle?). He was extremely polite which was unusual so I didn't hammer him like I wanted to but asked shouldn't they have these in the DVD section where everyone would be looking? He just told me they expected such a rush this morning when they opened that they set up a special table. Total BS but we were there by then. It was, of course, unmanned. I had to go under the ropes to get my Two Towers boxes. One copy of Lennon, no copies of George and the ORIGNAL edition of Let It Be on the table!

Someone had to go in back to get me a copy of George and I suggested that he put a few more out for others to buy.

They, of course, then tried to sell me Sports Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly. Then again at check out.

BB used to be a favorite store of mine but now I can't stand going in the place.

Just a few quick notes:

Best Buy's price on MST3K Vol. 4 is actually $40.99 in-store...that's $4 cheaper than what their website says!

Best Buy DID pricematch the Circuit City price for Tomb Raider 2, even though my copy had the bonus disc and technically wasn't the same item as CC's. :emoji_thumbsup:

Costco has The West Wing for $36.99!

As is noted in a separate thread, Costco also has $10 instant rebates on the new James Bond collections, making them a net $64.99 (best possible price) for the time being.

I didn't see the new Paramount catalog titles (Prety Baby, Once Upon A Time In The West, Oliver's Story, King David, or Last Tycoon) anywhere I looked.

I somehow got confused on the Journey: Greatest Hits DVD. It's not released this week, it's released NEXT week (11/25). Sorry to get your hopes up...I think Amazon made a mistake on the date and it threw me. But Journey themselves are saying the 25th, and have been all along. I'll include that line item again for next week's Roundup.

Just TT:EE for me at Walmart for $22.74. About the same price from last round. I've officially put Walmart on spead dial. I give them a call prior to leaving work on Tue to find out their price(which is usually the best).

Ah, so technically you inadvertantly posted the sale prices for the Journey DVD ahead of street date; shame on you--you should know better!;) j/k...

Then again, one could argue that the prices that were posted weren't really "sale" prices and thus, posting them wasn't in violation of the rules.:)

Yes, Tony that's true: the stated prices for the Journey DVD are all regular, everyday prices. Not a bargain in the lot. Perhaps that will change on Sunday, I dunno. But really, I still don't even think this will be found in stores on street date. For my wife's sake, though, I'll look.

Mike Frezon, I picked up the LOTR at Wal-Mart for 22.99 also, but couldn't find the Let It Be Naked, so I just walked over to the Circuit City and picked it up there for 11.99.

For those who hate Best Buy (like me) here's your place to vent.

David--I hope so, too! I am a bit miffed that your Roundup didn't include Jennifer Lopez' "The Reel Me" DVD (contains all of her music videos) in your Roundup--not all of us are interested in seeing only Journey, you know! j/k...I know you only put out the ones that are of high interest to you, but IMHO the J.Lo DVD might have been a candidate for inclusion on your Roundup if only because it does contain all of her music videos, and that if it weren't for Patrick (thanks, Patrick!), I would have wound up reluctantly paying a lot more for it than I did. Okay, she's not necessarily in the same league as Journey, but IMHO she ain't no one-hit wonder, either! I mean, IIRC one of your previous Roundups included Pat Benatar and her DVD was hard to find in many a B&M store--at least J.Lo's music video DVD could be found at many CC and BB stores!:D

And please don't take my comments as criticism--on the contrary, I was just making an attempt at some humourous banter. Your work is greatly appreciated among us all, me included!:emoji_thumbsup:

My local Wal*Mart had TTT for 29.99 and Bond for 89.97. I think I'll pass...
I called walmart and this is the same price for TTT I was given. Knowing Fry's had it for $23.99 I know Walmart had to have it cheaper. I called back and was told $22.77 at that point I headed over to walmart. Everything in the store had the 22.77 price I have no idea where the first clerk got the price he gave me...

The bond sets are just repackaging, except for set #3, right?

I had an interesting transaction at Best Buy last night. I picked up two of the James Bond box sets and went to buy them and one of them was marked $19.99! I could have been a jerk and demanded that price and make a scene, but I decided to be nice.

So instead of paying the $89.99 for each set, I price matched down to $69.99 at Target. I then got them to take the $30 off for buying two at once. The final price was $118 including tax!

I then added the Mystery Science Theater Set 4 for $40.99 and was going to use the coupon for 10% off any TV DVD that came in the demo disk they've been handing out, but they labeled MST as a comedy this time around. The rest of them are sitting in the TV section. I let it go for now but will probably take my receipt and the coupon to the service desk and appeal. That's $4!

I then got LOTR:TTT for $22.99 due to a price match to Shopko. So i managed to rack up a couple of Reward Zone certificates and save some money. I hope everyone else gets similar results if you are buying James Bond! Good Luck. Now I have to head back and buy Space Ghost and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It's been an expensive week!

Mike Frezon, I picked up the LOTR at Wal-Mart for 22.99 also, but couldn't find the Let It Be Naked,
I never saw a more-crowded, rag-tag electronics section of a Wal-Mart. You had to go a-searchin', that's for sure.

I tried to do the price match at the electronics counter and the guy looked at me like a deer in the headlights. My altruistic mode kicked in and I asked the guy if it would be easier if I went to the front registers. The look of relief that crossed his face was worth it! :D

Then, after I wait through a line at the front, I find my checkout person is wearing an "in-training" button! With the help of a supervisor, though, everything went fine. Even did two transactions as I was picking up LOTR:EE & LIBN for a co-worker!

Always an adventure.

Here are a few music releases out this week:
Code:
 AmazonBest Buy C.City Target
 Br.Springsteen - Live in Barcelona13.9914.99 12.99 NA
John Lennon - Lennon Legend 17.4919.99 19.99 NA
 The Concert for George 20.9919.99 19.99 16.98
U2 - Go Home: Live at Slane Castle13.9914.99 15.99 NA
Red Hot CPs - Live at Slane Castle16.9914.99 15.99 NA

Strangely, some have different prices depending on whether they are in digipacks or jewel cases. I went with whichever was cheaper since the content appears to be the same.

Regards,
