Sounds like to me one season per year and it looks to me that all Four seasons will be released by spring of 2013.
I would guess sales have been strong for the show. I would've thought that sales for Knots Landing would have been strong esp for season 2 but I guess Scarecrow thru WB's is a much better seller. The fans of the show will be thrilled for sure.

Does anyone know if there have been any edits, music or otherwise, the two releases so far? I don't want to toss my CBS network recordings until I'm sure.

I don't know about that, but I can tell you this:
Neil, you are wrong what you said a year earlier. The pilot episode WAS a typical one hour episode. The old L.A. times microfilms that I read at my local library said so. Even this entry from the Library of Congress says so.
53 minutes does seem a bit too long for an hour-long show from the 1980s. Maybe it's supposed to represent how long is not only the episode itself, but also the duration of blank spots in between the segments of the episodes (the blank spots signifying where the commercials/local news updates should go in).

Maybe my memory is getting faulty but if you looked it up on line then I'm sure I must be wrong.
Where is this 53 minutes coming from that you are talking about?

Apparently, my session time out, but here's what the contents said:
1 film reel (53 min.) : sd., col. ; 16 mm.
At the time, hour-long shows were typically 48 minutes without commercials. So what on Earth could 53 minutes signify?

I am so glad WB will be completing this series. That will be in time for my birthday in March. Great news.

Can't say for sure but every once in a while some episodes of programs will air with "limited commercial interruption" as a special draw.
