The Complete Collection, very cool. I just hope that all the extras are included. The US releases of "PItch Black" (theatrical/unrated) and "The Chronicles of Riddick" (theatrical/dir.cut) have also both versions of these films.

I really like Riddick. Also the games (Escape from Butcher Bay & Assault on Dark Athena) based on the character were really good.

Where in the chronology of Riddick does this latest film take place?

I'll be picking up the single disc, as I just got the Steelbooks of Pitch Black and Chronicles in the summer. Would like to see a BD release of Dark Fury though.

Didn't Universal just issue a box set of the first 2 films? Couldn't they have waited for the third installment to release a trilogy box set? Who am I kidding. Anyway, I used to be one of those suckers they love to reel in with "Extended Cuts" when in actuality it was just 4 or 5 extra seconds of nonsense - not no mo'. I don't fall for that anymore, not even for good films. But good for people who for some reason haven't bitten the bullet for the series yet.

They did, but Dark Fury was just a DVD. They should issue it in HD, even if it's just a special feature.

Hey, Fox issues a Die-Hard Collector's Blu-ray set just before
the 5th film was released to theaters.

We all know the drill when it comes to bad timing with these sets.

About 5 years (give or take) after Chronicles of Riddick.

The extended version of this one adds a nice coda bit that's quite different from the theatrical version and sets things up nicely for a sequel.

    The sequence is:

Escape from Butcher Bay (video game), Assault on Dark Athena (video game, includes the Butcher Bay game in remastered form), Pitch Black, Dark Fury (picks up almost directly from the end of Pitch Black), Chronicles of Riddick (~5 years after Pitch Black), Riddick (~5 years after Chronicles).

Great list, thanks. I actually love those video games too. If you're a gamer, you should check them out. Games were stealth really matters.

I have a few questions about the "Riddick: The Complete Collection" BD set (which I have).

I noticed that "The Chronicles of Riddick" disc also includes newer (from 2009 when I sampled it) audio commentary from director and Diesel via BD-Live. Was this included in the "original" BD release of this film? Meaning, that is it now available via BD-Live even with the older/original disc (or do you have to have the new box set)?

Then "The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004)" animated short film (included on the same disc with "Pitch Black"). It's obviously not in HD (it's "windowboxed", just like the non-Anamorphic transfer would be) and the audio is downgraded to 2.0 surround.

Anyway, my receiver says that the short film is encoded at 1080i/60 with AVC codec. To my understanding the SD material is just upscaled to HD and put on the disc, but then some people say that it's in "NTSC" on the disc. My question is that can people check their box set? Is the "Dark Fury" in 1080i/60 (AVC) or is this some kind of issue with my receiver (and before you ask, my PS3 nor receiver didn't do any upscaling).

    Thanks.

Anyone? I mean I'm begin to suspect that PS3 somehow converts SD resolution (from the BD I mean, I don't mean DVD) to 1080p which is then what my receiver is showing.
