Yeah, all 3 of them:) I so forgot all of the 4AD label material that saved my life back in the 80's. This would include:

This Mortal Coil: It'll End in Tears
Filigree and Shadow
David Sylvian: Secrets of the Beehive
The Pixies
Clan of Xymox etc.

I love that record label.

Shoot Ted, it reads "stands the test of time." What's with all the new stuff? What a rambler. :D

continued......

Supertramp - Breakfest in America
While many would consider "Crime of the Century" the must have for S-T. This one remains a regular play for me. A right time / right place. Believe it's 1979, as a boy that only plays sports, this album reminds of when "girlfriends" came into the picture. Most of us will put a time/place/memory to music, and this is happy time for me :b . Good music that still puts a smile on my face today.

Fleetwood Mac - Rumors

Another oldie but goodie. When hearing this on the radio way back when, I knew I liked it, but had no idea who Fleetwood Mac was. Early/late teens found out the name of the band and picked up Rumors. I like the music, lyrics, sound of this album. Also Stevie Nicks voice keeps this album fresh for me.

Rush - Moving Pictures
Fellow Canadians here, but I'm sure are popular near everywhere. Many of my friends consider Rush to be the best 3 piece band ever. After hearing it, you will at least hear why they say this.

The Who - Who's Next
If I had the money too, anyone in Rock interest of music, I would offer to buy back this album from any that don't like it. I am "not" a Who fan. I wouldn't say I don't like them, I'm just not one to go out and buy there albums. But this album is a must have. Think it came out in 1980-81, and I find this one even better today.

Queen - The Game
While I think I'll snap should I hear "Another one Bites the Dust", can't fault the album for radio murdering one tune off of it. While I had heard of many tunes from Queen before this, The Game was my 1st Queen album.

AC/DC - Back in Black
This one I murdered all on my own, played it over and over when it came out. After that amount of playing I shouldn't care for it anymore, but still do.

I found a few here I'm gonna put on my list of "to get" albums. Maybe a comment or two.

Well, just wanted to comment on this one. I think every friend I have/had known, love this ablum. This album shows me you can't force yourself to like music. I don't care for it, but hats off to any album that so many love such as this one.

Genesis- a few listed here.
Having only bought the Self Titled Gensis with Phil Collins back when (85-86). I liked it but not enough to go out and get any others. About 6 months ago, I picked up -
Trick of the Tail
Lamb Lies Down
Selling England by the Pound
This is great music, sorry I didn't pick up on it earlier / buy it sooner. I'm loving this today, this to me is an example of missing out on great tunes from yesteryears.

Mellon Collie: Sorry I don't know this, but I'm gonna look into. 2,3,4 mentions here, now I'm curious.

A few have mentioned, "while it may not be a classic". Thats fine, I'm listing stuff I liked yesterday, and still like today. If you liked it 2-3 - 10 -20 years ago, and still love it today, then it belongs here.
On the "rock" (my personal taste) side of things, I would suggest to anyone the albums I've listed here.

I hate to say this but I don't think any Best of Album should be listed as a test of time since most are put together because of record label commitments and reflect more an artist career. By the way did I say I really dont like Best Of albums they really are more like Best of songs that will only get played on radio and not exactly what the artist themselves want to do.

I couldn't agree more. As I'm guilty here listing the Rolling Stones "Hot Rocks" as one of mine.
Ya know, I thought of this myself, and thought of editing my post to avoid "greatest hits" being posted. I listed this as it got me very intersted in the Stones. But you couldn't be more right.
I wish to retract that first post on Hot Rocks, in it's place post -

Exile on Main Street

While I may own a few Greatest hits of 'this band / that band", they may never have had a great album. This post thus far has been filled with great "Albums", I agree to keep greatest hits stuff out.

:emoji_thumbsup: yep, "twist of shadows" is a personal fave...check it out if you don't have it already.

----

i don't buy into the "best of's is cheating" vibe though. if i like the band, and they have all the songs i like on a compilation, then that's the one i'll listen to most often. case in point is the pet shop boys/new order/dm/radiohead. i like *every* single album they put out. i don't think they've made a song i don't like. but their best of covers it all...so why not listen to it.

elton john-capt. fantastic & Goodbye yellow brick road
Bowie-Station to station
Queen-night at the opera
coldplay-parachutes
radiohead-OK computer
Earlinart-Treble and Tremble (awesome)
grandaddy-software slump
red house painters-any
clinic-walk with thee
Stones-some girls
elo-a new world record

All of these titles have a soul. They make me feel something. Sometimes they make me feel young and innocent again. The weight of the world disappears when these cd's play. If one word could be used to answer the why question it would have to be "soul"

Oh Yeah, I forgot...the guy that mentioned "Manfred Mann's Watch"...thank you so much. Today I will add "Waiter.." and "watch" to the ipod. I know that this will make my day! THANKS!
