You'll laugh at this next one, but it does have appeal to people, and it seems like a cult classic:

"Xanadu: UE"

Well, why not?

Sincerely,

Jaws desperately needs an Ultimate edition. It needs to be a two discs w/ both Dolby Digital and DTS tracks on disc one. Disc two can feature the FULL, UNCUT documentary that appeared on the Laserdisc, not the edited version we have on the present disc!

If there is one title that is aching for an Ultimate Edition, it's Jaws!!!

I'm not a big fan, but I would take Xanadu over some of the stuff they've released as collector's editions. If Patch Adams can get anything other than its negative roasting on an open fire, then all films are candidates for special treatment. If there ever was proof that this is not a perfect world... By the way, can we get that supercharged edition of The Frighteners already???

One word Universal:
Fletch
This is a classic film (and obviously you must think so too, seeing as during its time of release you send ads to the Academy® asking them to consider it for Best Picture), and it deserves the full on UE treatment. A Chevy Chase commentary would be golden, as well as those exceptional documentaries like the one in Animal House and Conan.
Universal has such a huge library of great Hollywood fare, and I would definitely pay for UE's (or in many cases just anamorphic widescreen releases) of these bad boys:
Fletch Lives
Midnight Run
Kindergarten Cop
Twins
Village of the Damned
Prince Of Darkness
They Live!
Casino
Happy Gilmore
Conan The Destroyer
Halloween 2 & 3

I almost forgot:
The Deer Hunter
Universal PLEASE give this the ultimate edition treatment it deserves! This is one of the best films of the last twenty five years, and is arguably the most moving and well done Vietnam flicks ever made. The widescreen DVD currently available (as you probably know) is horrible, complete with truckloads of grain, scratches, and any other blemish possible that could obstruct the actual film. It is such a beautifully shot film, and only a new anamorphic transfer could ever possibly do it justice. The audio was also poorly mastered on the original release, as there were many occasions where dialogue was unclear and muffled, a new 5.1 remix would surely do the trick!
Seeing as Michael Cimino's post-Deer Hunter career has been downhill, I am sure he'd love to contribute a commentary to his Best Picture winner. And how great would it be to watch a documentary with comments by Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, Meryl Streep and John Savage? It would be great to pay a tribute to the late John Cazale (of The Godfather fame) who died shortly after filming.
With the 9-11 bombings, and all the activities going on in Afghanistan right now, war is very much a major issue in society, making The Deer Hunter the perfect release to not only supplement the war craze surrounding us today, but also to serve as a contribution to denounce war and reveal the emotional anguish that applies to those involved.

Rhett: Good call on Casino, didn't even think about it. This is one that deserves the full meal deal treatment! Hopefully, M.S. will start pushing DVD a little more and bring out all those SE's like the Goodfellas one and so on.

Regarding: Scarface
I've read from another Web site that a new music score (by a rapper) is being prepared for the re-release. If this is true, PLEASE INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL SCORE! This is an absolute must if I am to buy the re-release!

Happy Gilmore would be awesome

Midnight Run would be nice, but I just don't see it happening, and as is it gets more viewing than most of my DVDs.

Maybe The Deer Hunter? I can't think of too many more.

I'd rather have The Cure released to DVD at all.

Wes, if you're still around (your status seems to be "banned"), you may like to know that a version of Shocker with a commentary track by Wes Craven was recently released in the UK. The disc didn't feature any deleted scenes, but it does have a section that compares the storyboards for several scenes to those in the finished film.
The disc is published by Momentum in the UK.

I agree with most of this list...I want FRIGHTENERS badly *is it true that there was a 4 1/2 doc on the LD????* with LOTR going to be a big hit I hope that they redo this film...I also want a nice UE of Darkman UNCUT..and I want to know why people want an UE of The Thing when the version thats out right now isn't that bad....

Put me down for "The Sentinel" (widescreen anamorphic) fully restored with any deleted scenes. I bought the "GoodTimes" version and it ain't such good times.
Likewise, the Hammer film "Curse of the Werewolf"
(if Universal retains North American rights), "The Legacy" (1979?), "The Funhouse", and the potboiler historical flick, "Mary, Queen of Scots".

Let's see, only three films in my book:
  • North Shore: Greatest film ever (well, almost), needs widescreen treatment really bad!
  • Cloak and Dagger: Need I say more
  • North Shore: Oh, this is a classic, we need this movie!!! DTS full bitrate would be nice
Gimme gimme gimme

Candyman....One of the best horror films out the 90's and it gets little respect. Better transfer and sound, maybe interviews with Tony Todd and Virgina Madsen, maybe even Clive.

Halloween II...how about giving us what you said you were going to in the beginning!

And the Frighteners...Hell yes!
