Because of Netflix's ridiculous system where you must be a member to see what they have available, I can't check this myself, but I wonder if they have HOUSE OF DRACULA? I believe the only way that title was released was on a DVD-18 as part of the Legacy series.

Kung Fu - 19 Netflix discs

season 1 - 3 original flipper discs (same as the original season 1 set release)

season 2 - 8 single-sided discs (the four flippers made into 8 single-sided discs)
season 3 - 8 single-sided discs (the four flippers made into 8 single-sided discs)

Dukes of Hazzard - 50 Netflix discs

If this is indeed the case, then I guess we're the only ones closely keeping track of these repackaged re-releases in this thread.

The mere existence of this thread, I think is somewhat shameful and sordid in how double-sided flipper discs had greatly "poisoned the well" for tv on dvd.

This all goes to say that single-sided discs versions of numerous Universal and Warner (and some Fox) flipper season sets, have existed all along as Netflix exclusives.

I suppose now in the present day is how these movie companies are eventually releasing these single-sided discs versions. They probably see a market for such single-sided discs versions, as a double-dip from annoyed customers from a decade ago.

EDIT: A double-dip at $15 a pop (or less) might be easier to swallow, than the original $40+ many of these flipper season sets were priced at around a decade ago or so.

And that's the LEGACY box cover, so either they do rent some DVD-18s, which is doubtful given that the flip side movies aren't listed for this, or they have specially made single sided versions from Universal as with the TV series cited above. Looking more closely at the Canada amazon listing, the Fox repackaged re-releases appear to be better documented than on amazon.com. A lot of repackaged/re-releases which were missing listings on amazon.com. The Canada release dates appear to be slightly later for some season sets (ie. X-Files, Stargate SG-1, etc ...).

For quite a number of these season sets, it's probably not too surprising for various reasons. (ie. Flipper discs, reality shows, one/two-season wonders, not enough interest after the first season, music replacement, waiting for somebody else to license the show, etc ...).
