    Hi all.

I did a search, but I didn't see a thread concerning this topic. Does anyone know if there are any universal remotes out there that work with the new HD DVD players, particularly the Toshiba HD-A1?

I don't know much about universal remotes other than this players remote is definitely driving me to purchase one. [IMG] I wasn't sure if there were some programable ones out there that you could download the codes from the Internet, etc.

    Thanks.

I use the MX600 remote for all my devices http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16880100603

It is a 10 device remote and is simple to program and the LCD screen may be changed to exactly match your existing remotes. Also with the RF range extender the remote has a huge range, ha I can drive to my local 7-11 and it would still work.

    RobertDW,

Thanks for the suggestion. Is it easy to program? Can you download new component remote control codes over the Internet, etc?

The MX600 is a learning remote only, if you want to DL codes then you would need to go to the more expensive MX700 or maybe it's the MX900 I forget. Also the Harmony remotes work well but at a higher cost.

If you really want to treat yourself to a NICE remote, I would
suggest the Harmony 880 Remote (or go with the 890 if
    you need extended RF capability).

These are the most popular and most enjoyed remotes amongst
    fellow HT enthusiasts.

All the codes you need to control your equipment are generally
    available from the Logitech website.

I think, these days, you can get the remote for $160 or less.
There always seems to be some deal posted in our COUPONS AND
    DEALS area.

    Amazon has it here $170

Ecost has it here for $154

(I am not sure of Ecost reputation)

Let us know what you decide upon.
