Hello everyone. You might be wondering, why Comedy? Well two reasons really. First off, whenever we see a "best-of" tourney such as Vickie's Mega-Tourney for example, we generally see the Comedy Classics get the shaft when paired against Classic Drama or Action. This will be the tourney that sees Comedy get its due. Secondly, when it comes to "genre" tourneys, they are already represented well (Justin's Horror Tourney), or the winners in some cases are just a bit obvious (anyone wanna bet against Raiders to win an Action Tourney?)

There will be 128 Tournament Slots. No wild cards.

The Nomination Process will commence in a second thread that will be up shortly. The Master List will be here at all times:

I think it's a great idea. Of course, instead of being upset that all the comedies don't get respect (I agree they get shafted), I'll find that all the ones I love will lose to others (but hey, that's what these tournaments are all about [IMG]).

OK fans! The Nomination Process is now complete! And it will be THIS Friday Night that the ULTIMATE COMEDY TOURNAMENT begins! (And oh, to Jack or whoever Moderates this, if there is a problem with making the title of this thread ALL CAPS then please PM or email me. Thank You)

Let the excitement start building. I know there was some controversy over letting more films in, but keep in mind that ALL entries will be featured with a quote AND pic when they come up in the First Round docket, and any more than 128 would have resulted in a LOT more work. Thanx everyone for your enthusiasm, and get ready...

Hello everyone! Just want to let everyone know that the ULTIMATE COMEDY TOURNAMENT will start tommorrow night between 8 and 10 PM EASTERN Time! And now, a quick look at some rules...

    1. There will be two matches per bracket for the first three rounds, after which it will go to one match.

    2. Bracket Times will be approximately 24 hours and 36 on weekends. However, there is NO official cutoff time. If you get your vote in 30 seconds before I post the next bracket, it WILL count.

    3. The seeding process is TOP SECRET.

    4. If you have not seen one or both films in a given matchup, please ABSTAIN. This is all-important.

    5. Voting? You can vote on what you think is the better film, what you think is the funnier film, or just which film you'd rather watch. IT DOESN'T MATTER. Just go with your heart. [IMG]

    6. All registered members of The Home Theater Forum (HTF) are invited to participate. Don't be shy!

    7. Discussion is definitely encouraged! [IMG]

Well that about does her, for now. Let the countdown begin to tommorrow night, when the ULTIMATE COMEDY TOURNAMENT begins!

In these troubled times, many of us often strive to answer the Ultimate Question, WHAT IS THE FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER MADE?? Well starting tonight, that question will be answered as never before...

"Sorry, I just get carried away sometimes..."

"Well that's just, like, your opinion, man."

"I was so entranced I had to ask the guy next to me to pinch me to see if I was dreaming..."

"People on ludes should not drive!"

"Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?"

    "This one goes to eleven."

    "OK, this chick is TOAST!"

    "Smashing baby, yeah!"

    Introducing first...

    Bracket 1 Match 1

-"Don't fuck with the Lords of Hell."

    -"Don't fuck with the babysitter!"

Adventures In Babysitting Directed by Chris Columbus

    vs.

-"Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot. He was not afraid to die, oh brave Sir Robin. He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways, brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin. He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp, or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken. To have his kneecap split, and his body burned away, and his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin. His head smashed in and heart cut out, and his liver removed, and his bowels unplugged, and his nostrils ripped and his bottom burned off and his penis..."

-"That's enough singing for now, lads... looks like there's dirty work afoot..."

Monty Python And The Holy Grail Directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones

Ric's Pick: Monty Python And The Holy Grail

    Bracket 1 Match 2

"Do you know how many times a week I go without lunch because some bitch borrows my lunch money? Y'know, any halfway decent girl can rob me blind, because I'm too torqued up to say no!"

Sixteen Candles Directed by John Hughes

    vs.

-"Now look! We've figured it seventeen different ways, and each time we figured it, it was no good, because no matter how we figured it, somebody don't like the way we figured it! So now, there's only one way to figure it. And that is, every man, including the old bag, for himself!"

-"So good luck and may the best man win!"

-"Except you lady, may you just, drop dead!"

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (The black knight scene is one of the funniest ever. Although part of me wants to vote for ABS simply for having two hotties in the movie, Elisabeth and Penelope--who knew there was such a babe hiding under those glasses when they first saw it?)

Sixteen "Sexy Girrrrlfriend" Candles (any truth to this 32 Candles (click here) rumor? Gawd I hope not.)

    Fun-spirited intro, Ric!

I gotta vote for two classics from my generation. They're funnier and in my opinion, better...though I'm sure they'll lose here.

Adventures in Babysitting - Ya think?
Sixteen Candles - Long Duk Dong rules!
