We spent about a month looking for a new cross over vehicle this summer. Most of the ones we looked at were basically the same at around the same price points. Where they differed greatly was in the electronics. We particularly wanted a navigation system, and my wife particularly wanted hands free messaging connecting with her cell phone.
We finally settled on the 2016 Dodge Journey. We were assured that it had a navigation system and hands free messaging.
After we picked up the car, I spent a couple of hours in the garage trying to learn everything and connect our phones. Finally I searched on line and discovered that Uconnect is not compatible with IPhones! Apparently when you contact them they say an update is coming, but they have been saying this since 2012!
Our salesman was "a dick".
Now we are stuck with a car my wife hates!
Has anybody had any luck connecting their iPhone to a Chrysler product?
Shouldn't these vehicles be sold with a big black banner that says WARNING NOT IPHONE COMPATIBLE.
It's not like we are the only ones with iPhones.

I have a uConnect head in my 2014 Jeep and it is incredible with all my iPhones. What isn't working? PM me if you want

We are getting no messaging--It is greyed out. When I try to play music from my phone via Blu tooth, none of the hands free features work. You have to pick songs etc. using the phone itself. If you just tell it to play it wants to play every song in alphabetical order.
It will work better if plugged in, but still no messaging. The Uconnect website says it is not comparable. We have iPhone 5 and 6.

Ok I use mine plugged in 100% of the time to play podcasts and iTunes cloud music. I have zero interest in doing text messaging or Bluetooth music. It works flawlessly for Bluetooth phone conversations.

If I'm going to use my phone in my car for any length of time it's plugged in, and works great that way.

It does work for phoning and music etc. When plugged in, but still no messaging, which was the main use we were looking for. Also, no amount of shouting will get the phone to switch tracks etc.

Any chance you have a return grace period on the car? Aside from the iphone issues, seems the bigger issues are the poor crash ratings and poor reliability of those vehicles. Might be win-win to return it.
