As far as trend number #1, I don't think it'll be around much longer. I don't see a whole lot of kids dressing like this these days. Clothing trends seem to last about 5-10 years and the baggy pants thing is pushing the 10 year mark. Give it time.

I'd like to see the trend of parents letting their kids dress like that end.

I know if my mom saw me walk through the door with baggy pants, a over sized shirt, and a funky walk she'd kill me.

Nothing I have read in this thread so far is as disturbing as the idea of a teenager promoting stricter parenting. Barring extreme cases (drugs etc...), even as an adult, I am wary of such kids ;)

Absolutely. Kids like that always turn out to be snitches, hall monitors or Republicans.

If it is, she's using a totally different name and she isn't telling me that she's watching my online posting...
EDIT: she always types in caps lock and I've never heard her say precisely, so I don't think so.

Anyways, most kids follow their parents examples. If their parents are calm, quiet, and well mannered than chances are their kids will be calm, quiet, and well mannered. If their parents let them wear baggy pants, a over sized shirt, etc. their kids will do it.

The clothing, slang, and music embraced by teenagers is supposed to baffle and enrage their parents. That is why teenagers exist. Without the rebellious attitude, teenagers would have no purpose; they would be nothing more than miniature adults. Popular culture would grind to a halt.

A pity it didn't happen 20 years ago. The bigger the hair, the better the music, that's what I say!

;)

This won't win me any friends, but I'd like to see the trend stop of old men buying motorcycles that sound like my Ford Escort with a broken exhaust pipe. People worry about motorcycle accidents...why? I can hear the thing a mile away! Forget the kids with thumpin' car stereos, they're no match for the geezer next to me on his two-wheeled, mid-life crisis!

In the future a lot of chubby chasers will be able to trace their compulsion back to the muffin tops of junior high.

Two wheeled, mid life crisis!?!? On the interstate, I am seeing more and more three wheeled for those who can't keep their balance anymore!
