My uncle's favorite movie of all time is Two Lane Blacktop. My aunt bought him the Limited Edition Tin a few years ago. I hope she didn't pay the astronomical prices it is going for now.

I think the most I ever got for a DVD was when I sold the AB edition of this a couple years back for $50. I understand its going for even more now.

Had an interest in seeing this again. It didn't set my world on fire the first time I saw it, but it definitely has a way of staying with you and getting under your skin.

Never put off til tomorrow what you can buy today. I've been trying to get my hands on the Anchor Bay edition without breaking the bank ... so a Criterion edition would be most welcome, and much-deserved. Criterion says nothing about it on their website. Not yet anyhow. So we may be in for a long wait.

Monte Hellman's twin western masterpieces, RIDE IN THE WHIRLWIND and
THE SHOOTING (both 1965), nicely restored and supplemented by VCI, are also out of print now and overdue for a re-release on DVD.

I have the standard issue DVD and the tin and didn't know the tin was going for anymore than retail. Hmmmm.

I like James Taylor & Dennis Wilson, as musicians.
The idea of them having lead roles in a movie was not promising for me.
That's probably the main reason I waited about 34 years to see Two-Lane Blacktop (1971).
I was in error...it's a damn fine film.

There will actually be a theatrical screening of Two-Lane Blacktop in Miami Beach this Thursday. Hellman will do an interview via Skype afterwards too. Anyone here live in the area? Were there any different extras on the tin edition of Two Lane Blacktop, compared to the Criterion release?


Have checked out the IMDb page for Road to Nowhere (2010),. The film's synopsis does sound good, and having Shannyn Sossamon and Cliff De Young in the cast is promising.
