Twin SVS Model SV20-39CS subs that is!
wink.gif

Going to be using the following equipment:
For Pre/Pro – Sherwood Newcastle R945, (yea I know it's old but it was the first receiver with DTS and I jumped on that bandwagon, dieing for the Outlaw Pre/Pro to arrive on the scene!) and an AudioSource SS Six for the (EX/ES) center rear speakers.
For amps – 3 QSC EX800’s and 1 QSC EX1250.
For speakers – 6 JBL S36 (EX/ES capable) and 1 JBL S-Center.
EQ for dual subs – RANE ME 60.
First I am going to try both subs in the right rear corner of the HT room (pictures of the room on my web site).
The subs are going to be wired in parallel first and are going to one channel of the QSC EX1250 amp which should produce 600 Watts into a 2 ohm load. If this works nicely then I will leave it this way.
If anyone has dual Model SV20-39CS subs and has any pointers what-so-ever I am all ears!!!
Also any pointers to get out of work early tomorrow?

Mark,
first, thanks for putting your faith in SVS!
Now,here's some general pointers.
1)keep the subs as close together as possible to start.
2)put them in the best corner of the room to start.
3)I know you have low ceiling near the corners...so you could even try laying the SVs on their side if you wanted.
4)calibrate the system with the QSC gain to max....and run the subs about even with the rest of the speakers(or a dB or two louder)to start.
remember, the RS meter rolls off down low. So if it reads 75dB on the subwoofer calibration tone...it's really an actual 77-78dB(ish).
5)Put in something like...Das Boot,or IRON GIANT,or maybe BLADE.
run it up to say...10dB under reference to start...
Let us know what you think :)

Let’s just say that when I was watching “The Matrix” last night I was actually slapped in the side of the face with a wall of air! Now that is feeling the bass!

Watched DTS Demo #4 this evening and then U571 in DTS....
WOW!
First time I saw my QSC EX1250 hit the red LIM/CLIP mode. Happened during the Haunting DTS-ES demo of course, but neither the dual subs nor the QSC EX amp shown any signs of strain what-so-ever!!! Very impressive to say the least.
Eagles H.C.F sounded fantastic and the bass in Sheryl Crow's: “Am I getting through” was remarkable, even Roy Orb sounded much better then with the old subs I used to use in my HT (D.T., JBL and even the AT272 sub).
Now my Newcastle R945 is calibrated for D.D. and unfortunately it does not have bass management memory for DTS or other modes, so once the bass is set (-7db right now) it is set for all modes and I think DTS may be a tad high but let me tell you it was fun!
wink.gif

Stay tuned as it may be raining tomorrow which would mean a whole lot of DVD demo-ing since I can’t cut the lawn if it is raining out now can I?
Might have to break down and try and find a good copy of the Jurassic Park DTS DVD at Best Buy……

Rhett....
Unfortunately QSC stopped the EX line and replaced them with the MX line which are by far way below audiophile grade amps. I tried to match a MX700 up with the EX800's and it plain sucked.
Anyway here is QSC's URL and below that is a URL to Big Bear where you can pickup some QSC EX amps. I bought 2 QSC EX800's from Big Bear and the transactions were very good. Just ask for Larry and tell him I sent you. No I do not get any kick backs before you ask!

Parker, do you have the new DTS with the fixed DTS sound track?
I might just have to try Best Buy tomorrow and see if they will take my old copy.

Mark:
I don't know if it the "fixed" version or not. All I know is the bass rocks the HT.
The others to check out is the newest version of the Die Hard triology, The Professional and of course The Fifth Element. All have great bass extension and are real room shakers.

Just check out this thread Parker:
http://www.hometheaterforum.com/uub/...ML/027533.html
The jest of it is:
Disc hub should say: D2R2
If it has D2R1 it is the bad pressing.
Just ask your co-heart Ron about it!
His quote:
"
You know...
This really burns me that I actually
spent $$$ to buy a 2nd JURASSIC PARK DVD
because Universal screwed up.
I buy the DVD with the top spine code
that distinguishes it as a NEW pressing.
Let's not even mention that Universal hasn't
done more to alert customers of the new pressing.
Then I open it up and find out via simple
code that it ISN'T a new pressing?
How many friggin' discs do I have to blindly
buy in order to get a NEW pressing?
You know....
When other studios screw up, they create an
EXCHANGE program. Universal has done nothing.
In addition, some of us are BLINDLY buying new
copies of these discs hoping to get a new copy.
This is friggin' insane!"

Well today I watched Dark City and Aliens and again I had a very fun time. Dark City had bass that I never new existed and I think I have a loose tooth now. Will SVS pick up the dental bill you think?
I also slapped in the latest 2-channel CD from Janet Jackson: All For You, as it has some very heavy musical bass, and must say that I was very impressed with the twins! I can now safely retire my other subs to the 4x3 HT room as the SVS subs have no problems what-so-ever with 2 channel music.
