One film that I particularly like which hasn't received much attention is Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon, which I think is a Sony picture. Does anyone know about a possible blu-ray release?
Fantastic movie, i never tire of watching it, they need to get around to releasing it.

Money burns a hole in my pocket for a hi-def transfer of NIGHT OF THE DEMON / CURSE OF THE DEMON (1957). Bring it on, Twilight Time.

"It's in the trees! It's coming!"

Kate Bush (in my opinion the greatest female musical talent the UK has ever produced) uses this line from Night of the Demon on her 1985 song Hounds of Love. There is a wonderful video on YouTube which overlays Hounds of Love onto some scenes from the movie.

I've said this before but I think horror titles are always in big demand. I would think Night of the Demon would sell quickly but I'm not sure if the film would be as popular as something like Christine from John Carpenter...maybe it would but I'm not sure but I would say that I think it would be a film that would sell consistently over the years as more and more horror fans discover it. I just think there would always be a demand for it.

I would also say I don't think there is anything wrong with the way Twilight Time handled the release of Christine or Fright Night. I mean it should have been expected that those films would be in high demand and if you want to slam somebody for limiting the release of films like this to 3000 copies I would blame the company that licensed them to Twilight for not releasing them on their own. Something like Christine would be a steady seller because Carpenter is such a big deal to horror fans.

Honestly, I would not have guessed Fright Night would go so fast (mainly because I just thought it was not such a great film) but I think horror fans just snap up these genre films.

Any news on if Twilight Time would also revisit The Kremlin Letter on blu-ray?

What is to stop the labels from re-releasing their own Blu-ray editions later down the line? If the demand is still there, I'd imagine this would be the only solution...

Nothing. But the flip side is they could also think that the TT release saturated the core fan base, or that if the TT release couldn't even sell a full 3,000 copies there's not enough interest.

PREORDER GOES LIVE TODAY

Press Release 07/16/2013
Twilight Time announces the exciting First Time ever BLU-RAY release of Walter Hill’s eagerly awaited classic motion picture – it stuns – it thrills!
“THE DRIVER”
Limited Edition BLU-RAY Release
Only 3,000 units available at
Once they are gone – they are gone!
RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, JULY 23rd, 2013
“A bare bones, existential film noir…skillfully creates a mood that is hard to shake after the ending credits. The car chases are breathtaking.”
TV Guide
“An audacious, skillful film noir…technically sophisticated and very imaginative filmmaking.”
The Chicago Reader
Writer-director Walter Hill’s 1978 study of professionalism and obsession stars Ryan O’Neal as the ultimate getaway driver, a sleek crook who’s never been caught, and Bruce Dern as the cop who’s determined to make the collar. Isabelle Adjani glamorously co-stars as the woman in the case, along with a full range of 1970s character actors. The gritty/glittering city-scapes are by Philip Lathrop, and the spare, moody score (available here as an isolated track) by the one and only Michael Small.

Well, Hallelujah -- I just got what has to be one of the first copies of The Driver in the first minute -- miraculous, considering the usual bottleneck when these things go on sale, but especially considering that they're offering signed copies of Hard Times with a $100 Twilight Time order. (Not something I can take advantage of because I have everything of theirs I want.)

I got my copy of THE DRIVER too. Ordered about 5 minutes after the preorder went live. Living in Canada like I do, they give you two options for shipping. 35 dollars or 8 dollars. With the 8 dollar shipping they won't replace or refund your money if the shipment is lost. I chose the 8 dollar option.

SAE might have upgraded its system to accommodate the traffic, or maybe everyone's out getting a start on their holiday. Either way, I'm a happy boy! :)

I got my copy of "The Driver" which I am over the moon about as it's my favorite Walter Hill movie with "Streets Of Fire" and "The Warriors" coming in a close second ( 48Hrs, Southern Comfort ....) BUT I screwed up my order up in that I got to the checkout before the free (for orders over $100) autographed copy of "Hard Times" appeared assuming that it would be automatically added to my shipment :(

Ah well I had better "Go Home" :)

Regards,

Twilight Time announces the exciting First Time ever BLU-RAY release of Stuart Cooper’s mesmerizing masterpiece –a lost little gem of a movie – until now!
“THE DISAPPEARANCE”
Limited Edition BLU-RAY Release
Only 3,000 units available at
Once they are gone – they are gone!
RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 13TH, 2013
“There’s something haunting about this mood piece’s chilly atmosphere and alienated emotional landscape…leaves a few resonant echoes in its wake.”
—Trevor Willsmer, Movie Collector

“A powerful story of international murder by contract…An explosive climax and an ingenious revelation are the perfect conclusions to this romantic thriller.” Pre-Certification Video

“Director Stuart Cooper has assembled an excellent cast…Christopher Plummer and John Hurt brighten the proceedings.” People Magazine
The Disappearance (1977), from director Stuart Cooper (Overlord), is a film maudit ripe for rediscovery, the tale of an ultra-cool hit man (Donald Sutherland) for an international assassination agency who must grapple with the disappearance of his beloved but wandering wife (Francine Racette) and with a new target who seems strangely connected to his vanished spouse. Featuring phenomenal performances by the likes of David Hemmings, John Hurt, Christopher Plummer, and David Warner, the film—available on this Twilight Time release both in a new cut and in director Cooper’s original version—spotlights the work of cinematographer John Alcott (A Clockwork Orange, The Shining), a Stanley Kubrick favorite.

Twilight Time proudly announces the stunning first time ever BLU-RAY release of the Brian De Palma’s long awaited cult favorite!
Brian De Palma’s “BODY DOUBLE”
Limited Edition BLU-RAY Release
Only 3,000 units available at
Once they are gone – they are gone!
RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 13TH, 2013
Body Double is an exhilarating exercise in pure filmmaking, a thriller in the Hitchcock tradition…cleverly constructed, with an emphasis on visual storytelling.” —Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“De Palma’s signature film. It’s a wicked, feature-length double entendre from the Doublemint era.” Slant Magazine

“Sexy and explicitly crude, entertaining and sometimes very funny.”
—Vincent Canby, The New York Times
Another Brian De Palma gloss on Alfred Hitchcock, Body Double (1984) is a dark thriller set against the sleazy backdrop of bad filmmaking—from horror to porn. The focus is on a struggling actor (Craig Wasson) who becomes obsessed with a beautiful exhibitionist (Deborah Shelton) he can’t resist peeping at; his voyeurism begins to serve a purpose when he discovers that his object of desire is in mortal danger. Also starring a very amusing Melanie Griffith as a punk-style porn star, the film features a spectacular score by Pino Donaggio (available on this Twilight Time release as an isolated track) and a heralded appearance by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Twilight Time brings it on with the first time ever BLU-RAY release of the quintessential British Gangster saga starring Sir Ben Kingsley - in the role he was born to play!
“SEXY BEAST”
Limited Edition BLU-RAY Release
Only 3,000 units available at
Once they are gone – they are gone!
RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 13TH, 2013
“Riotously entertaining, and with a big heart, too. [Director] Glazer doesn’t merely compose great shots. He builds pedestals to great actors.” Slate Magazine
“Ben Kingsley…jolts the movie like an exposed high-voltage wire…Sexy Beast delivers not only sensation but also, more remarkably, feeling.” The New York Times

“Acting rarely gets this hypnotically explosive. Every performance shines…dynamite.” Rolling Stone
Sexy Beast (2000) is a brilliant entry in the annals of British crime films, focusing on ex-safecracker Gal Dove (Ray Winstone), enjoying a sybaritic retirement on the sun-soaked coast of Spain only to have his idyllic life interrupted by the arrival of the fearsome psychotic Don Logan (a startling Ben Kingsley). Logan wants Gal to return to London for one last massive heist planned by the iciest boss of bosses, Teddy Bass (Ian McShane); Gal flat-out refuses. But Logan, it seems, isn’t one to take no for an answer.

Both Kremlin Letter and Curse of the Demon would be nice to have on Bluray. Ordered The Driver and will probably order The Disappearance.
