Hogan's Hero's ran for 6 years and no one had a problem with it then. It must be a "PC" list.
The show had its detractors back then--for the same reason. There's nothing "PC" about being put off by the idea of a "comedy" set in a Nazi-run POW camp.

Perhaps you're right Jack. With Howard Stern being on for almost 10 years talking about boobs, having fart contests and degrading anyone who will stand there or call in and take it, a comedy with lots of laughs that's about a POW camp with a highly diverse cast of characatures from multiple countries seems pretty sad. Especially since in 1965 the main bread winners in probably most households watching were veterans of WWII.

Never got into Hogan's Heroes, but geezum crowe that Bob Crane fellar was an odd duck! Do you think all that stuff about the freaky gonzo amateur porno (and worse) factored into this list at all?

Two of the actors on HH were holocaust survivors. Concentration camps were never mentioned.

It would never fly today, but I like HH.

I wonder how many of these people who railed against HH also protested the dozens of TV westerns with laughable native american stereotypes, where 'Indians' were mostly evil, stupid, or had lives with as much value as cattle.

"BIDIBIDIBIDI" Ahh Mel Blanc as the voice of twiggy
That's TWIKI and that's blasphemy! :D
On the other topic at hand, I can fully understand the objection if Hogan's Heroes were set in a concentration camp, but the use of a prisoner of war camp as a central location had been done several times previously (The Great Escape, Bridge on the River Kwai, Stalag 17, Von Ryan's Express). Switching the genre to situation comedy shouldn't automatically render something offensive. But I'll never wager any money on what things people might claim offense to.

I have the first airing of "Cop Rock" on tape, and I've bought the DVDs of the Brady Bunch Hour and Pink Lady and Jeff, so don't know what that says about me! :)
They shouldn't have included cable shows, but since they did I think ANYTHING non-music related that was on MTV should automatically qualify!

Heard an interview with Werner Klemperer before he died. He, who fled Germany as a child, had it written into his contract that he would only pay Klink if Klink always came out on the short end of the contest of wills between himself and Hogan.

If you were to do a list of truly the worst shows on television, it would be a list of terribly obscure shows that lasted one to two episodes at best. But that wouldn't be a list worth reading since no one would remember them.

Somebody mentioned Automan! Damn, all those years of therapy blown by one HTF thread! Damn you all! :D
As for Hogan's Heroes, the show that gave us Colonel Klink and Sergeant Schultz deserves better.

I don't understand how Starland Vocal Band TV Show did not make the list.

And since we included cable (Disney etc. is on the list) then there are quite a few that should be on the list and aren't..

And of course, things like:

Saved By the Bell: College Years (NBC)
The Brothers Grunt (MTV)
Herman's Head (Fox)
Team Knight Rider (Synd)

And, as far as offensive, I find NBC's "Blossom" a far more offense/worthless show then "Hogan's Heros" same would also go for ABC's Friday night crap-fest "Full House"

If you base a series' failure on the number of shows it ran before being cancelled, then I guess you would have to include "Police Squad" on that list. It was a show that was way ahead of its time. What did it run? Six episodes? What a shame.

Does anyone remember a show called, "Quark"? It starred Richard Benjamin as a space garbage collector? That one was fun but had to rank at least as one of the top 100.

Also, on the subject of obscure, short-lived shows, there was "Salvage One" starring Andy Griffith.

Too many bad shows to name and so little time.

I'm trying to think.. you know, like Sledgehammer, the TV series, that would be another really short lived show. Or Max Headroom...

I think THE BRADY BUNCH VARIETY HOUR was one of the funniest things ever on TV. Why do we only have 2 episodes on DVD? Come on, Rhino!

The irony (or hypocracy) is that if you go to the list on the TV Guide web page and click on Hogan's Heroes, it goes to TV Guide's page listing classic episodes and the Hogan's Heroes cover on TV Guide.

The only show on the list I watched (and loved) was Hogan's Heroes. Most of them I've never heard of let alone know what they were about. But... maybe that's a good thing. ;)
Edited to add... "I know nothing!!!"

I liked "The Ropers" and "Hello Larry".

What about some stinkers like "Hard Time on Planet Earth"?

Wait, that was okay too...

Homeboys in Outer Space actually wasn't too bad -- it at least had some humor, and James Doohan (aka "Scotty") in a very typecast role...
