Trying to determine what’s gone wrong: HDMI to DVI connection. (1 Viewer)

I have the
D* HR10-250: HDMI output
Sony KF-60XBR800: DVI input

HR10-250 provided a HDMI to DVI cable in box. (unknown brand)

Worked flawlessly for months, suddenly PQ deteriorated to a screen that is reminiscent of viewing a negative (but in color). So am back to component cables for now.

Any help or advice to determine which is the culprit? The STB or Display outputs/inputs or (hopefully) an HDMI to DVI cable gone bad? Cables are not cheap hoping to deduce if there is a method of elimination whereby I can zero in on which part to focus repair funds on.

Not sure Mary. I'd try the cable first. These cables are available in a number of places including Walmart (Philips brand) which as we all know has a no hassle return policy.

..the path of least resistance.
I threw it out in the fear someone had seen that behavior (neg in color) during a failure of the DVI or HDMI on either of those two models.. I did not know Walmart carried the cables..when last I Looked they were scarce.
I hate to carry it around but test II would be take the STB to my moms and hook it to her DVI to eliminate the HDMI side.

Thanks Chu.
