Just out of curiosity -- do you see the same artifacts if you view the DVD on your computer monitor, as opposed to the HDTV?

Unfortunately (?), yes. I question whether that's unfortunate because maybe if the computer screen looked okay I could search more for better settings for the TV...

It's not unwatchable, but it is distracting -- and detracts from what would otherwise be very nice presentations..
