1. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Edition - While the extras are a continuation of the extras on the Fellowship of the Ring:Extended Edition, it's the fact that I like Two Towers more that places it ahead of Fellowship on this list.

2. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition - New Line threw in everything, including the kitchen sink, into this puppy. I'm glad they continued it in the Two Towers: Extended Edition and presumably into the Return of the King: Extended Edition

3. Alien Quadrilogy- While this set may have more breadth and depth than the Lord of the Rings sets, due to 2 editions of each movie, its the fact that I love the Lord of the Rings movies more that places this one third.

4. Indiana Jones Trilogy - I was finally glad to see these great movies make it home in the ultimate format, relatively unscathed. If Lucasfilm puts as much effort into the Ultimate Super Duper Star Wars Special Editions, I'll be a happy camper.

5. Back to the Future Trilogy - Framing issues aside, the set delivers. I was finally glad to get rid of my VHS tapes when this came home.

6. Fight Club - This is packed to the brim. I love how 4 commentaries were put on disc one and the picture still looks spectacular.

7. Seven - I'm glad David Fincher and Co. went back and delivered a truly spectacular companion piece to the Fight Club DVD. The extras are spectacular, my favorite being the one where they show us how they acheived the look of the film in post-production.

8. Toy Story: Ultimate Toy Box - The first two discs alone would have been enough to warrant inclusion, but Pixar had to go ahead and give us a third disc chock full of goodies to wade through.

9. Memento: LE - All of the bonus material alone is great, but the fact that you can watch it in chronological order via a Easter Egg puts the icing on the cake.

10. Almost Famous: Bootleg Edition: Untitled - The theatrical version was my favorite movie of 2000. This version, 30 minutes longer, triumphs that one. With more time given to the characters and scenes, the movie is richer, fuller, and deeper. I love the third disc of music by Stillwater. I still can't believe that this band doesn't exist. Or do they?..... :)

Runner ups: Traffic:Criterion Collection, The Rock: Criterion Collection, Band of Brothers, Black Hawk Down, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Godfather Collection, Moulin Rouge, Terminator 2: Ultimate and Extreme Editions, Three Colors, Unforgiven: SE, Star Wars: Episode One and Two.

Hello, Long time lurker first time poster.

1 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers EE
2 The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring EE
3 Terminator 2: Ultimate Edition
4 Terminator 2: Extreme Edition
5 Snow White Platinum Edition
6 The Matrix
7 Monsters Inc
8 The Lion King Platinum Edition – While the extras have suffered due to Disney trying to hit 2 birds with one stone the transfer is perfect and the DEHTM really brings you into the film especially during the Circle of Life and the Wildebeest Stampede.
9 Finding Nemo
10 Back to the Future Trilogy

1. Almost Famous Untitled: The Bootleg Cut
2. Once Upon a Time in the West
3. Sunset Boulevard
4. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
5. The Bridge on the River Kwai
6. North By Northwest
7. La Strada
8. A Star is Born (1954)
9. Tokyo Story
10. Led Zeppelin

A few thoughts ...

Almost Famous - "Talkin' 'bout my generation"
Once Upon a Time in the West - I've only had it a week and it nearly made #1.
Sunset Boulevard - "I am big. It's the pictures that got small."
North By Northwest - I'm still blown away by the picture quality on this disc from a movie that is over 40 years old!
A Star is Born (1954) - Talk about restoration. They restored scenes that couldn't even be restored!
Led Zeppelin - "It's been a long time since I rock and rolled"

They coulda been a contender except ...

2001 - no extras, nothing
The Apu Trilogy - ditto
Apocalypse Now Redux - no extras and the glaring omission of the original (and better) version
Amarcord - no worthwhile extras and a non-anamorphic presentation (and this from Criterion!)
The Abyss - non-anamorphic
Indiana Jones Box Set - Just because they put 3 movies in the box doesn't make it a great release. Besides, they would have been released years ago if not for the massive egos of the director and the studio.
LOTR - it doesn't need my vote

Exactly! That's why I put those two at the very end. You know they're gonna be in the top 5. However, I had to keep them in my list, because they are truly great releases. Also, I feel extremely lucky to own them. :)
