toobusytop-150x150.jpg

Too Busy to Work offers us the Will Rogers we expect in a movie: funny, easy-going, and with a masterfully understated way with words.

All well and good to reissue material on the DVD-R collection that was in the Rogers box set but we still don't have a release of Rogers' version of State Fair(1933) which I have seen and have only a few good clips. Makes little sense and Fox's two remakes have been done. So? Mr Fox?

Will Rogers's films are like stepping into a time capsule and a treat for those who view them. Too Busy to Work is actually from Volume 2 of Fox's Will Rogers Collection Boxed Set, and those interested should look there first. As for State Fair, it is not yet available on disk, but it is available in a new HD transfer as part of the Fox 100 as explained here: https://willmckinley.wordpress.com/2015/10/02/classic-film-fans-get-lucky-on-foxs-100th-birthday/. Joining it are A Connecticut Yankee, Doctor Bull, and Judge Priest (the latter two directed by John Ford). Fox has been making a real effort with its library and I am very grateful for it. That said, at some point, more new to DVD or home video Will Rogers would be very welcome.
