Thanks to an upgraded Digital Bits cover section, the title is now available for preorder.

At last! "One of us! One of us!"

This film effectively killed Todd Browning's career, but it is a haunting tale of exploitation, and what is considered 'normal' anyway. The real love story's a bit on the thin side, and the real sideshow cast are not actors by any stretch of the imagination, but one can't help but feel more sympathetic towards the 'freaks' and absolute disdain for the conniving 'normals'.

I knew it was on the way thanks to the Warner chat, but it's worth noting. The basic 'search' showed no designated thread.

Most talk about it is in threads devoted to WB releases. I suggest a more in depth search to find things you're looking for. Try "Freaks + Browning"

Yeah that cover's been up at Amazon for a while, as has the preorder (which I placed a week or two ago, actually).

Here's the specs from the other Warner thread:

On DVD, Freaks has been remastered from rare nitrate film elements to improve image and audio quality. Bonus materials will include:

    Three alternate endings
    All-new documentary, Freaks: Sideshow Cinema
Commentary by David J. Skal, author of "Dark Carnival: The Secret World of Tod Browning, Hollywood's Master of the Macabre"
Special message prologue added for the theatrical reissue

(Herb Kane originally posted the specs)

I saw a restored print of this last October. It looked great. I'll definitely be adding this one to the collection.
