The only deleted scene that I wish was in the movie is the one where Jack and Rose return from the steerage party and they're singing "Come Josephine". I like having that scene in because it would echo when they're standing on the bow and even more near the end of the movie. Not that I'd be against Cameron doing an extended cut of the movie but other than that one scene, I'm fine with the rest of the stuff remaining outside of the finished film.

"Titanic" is now playing in the IMAX auditorium in the AMC Lincoln Square complex in NYC; it's billed as a "Special 70MM Engagement" in the NY Times advertisements (other local IMAX theaters are showing the film but not in this format). I went last night and was hugely impressed. 70MM IMAX 3D is a very immersive experience. The film is being presented with an intermission, presumably due to the technical limitation of projecting films in IMAX beyond 170 minutes. Music from the film is played during the intermission, just like in the old roadshow days. This "special engagement" hasn't received the attention it deserved, probably due to the fact that the "special engagement" didn't start until 2 weeks after the "TItanic" reissue opened elsewhere (the delayed opening was due to a contractual commitment to screen "Wrath of the Titans" at the Lincoln Square IMAX through mid-April).

Have you guys seen this?...

That's incredible news! They've been talking for years about rebuilding the ship but nothing ever came of it and now it looks like it's actually going to happen! I'll be following this story with great enthusiasm over the next couple of years for sure and you can bet your bottom dollar I'm going to sail on it one day.

At what point in the film did they insert the intermission? And was there some sort of Intermission card projected?

I don't get the reference, Will.
I looked it up and can see that it has something to do with Futurama (a show I never watched) but please explain further. This made the news last night and many sites are reporting this so it seems like this is a done deal this time.

The Futurama episode in question was a "Titanic in Space" satire where the ship travels too close to a black hole instead of an iceberg due to a horrifically inept Captain.

I'd love to tour a Titanic II but I wouldn't feel any need to leave port. Call me superstitious.
You'd be better off I say. You realize how many dolts who would be doing the "I'm King of the World!" or "I'm flying!" on the front of the ship you'd be trapped with?

Hammer, I would say give Futurama a look. If you like things that are funny, you shouldn't be disappointed. Also, very often, the show is actually quite intelligent.

Oh I simply have to check that episode out, your description alone made me laugh lol.
I'd sail on TITANIC II in a heartbeat, it'll be outfitted with state of the art GPS, sonar and radar, plus the international ice patrol blows up any stray bergs now and I think it's safe to say they'll make damn sure there are no bergs in TITANIC II's path this time.
My head is spinning with the idea that I may actually get to sail on it one day, I can't even imagine how I'd react seeing it right there before my eyes, I'm sure I'll lose it a little or perhaps a lot. Studying it for so many years I know the physical appearance of the ship like I know my own face and it'll be surreal I'm sure.
Tino, what's your take, will you be sailing on TITANIC II someday?

As long as enough of the crew are adept at smelling ice, I'd say you're good to go :D

Am I right lol?
That's correct--exact same place as the SCE DVD disc switch.
@KPmusmag re "And was there some sort of Intermission card projected?" No there was not.
@Erik_H: Just wanna be doubly sure--your Lincoln Square 70mm screening was an approximately 1.85 aspect ratio, yes?

Hehe, most of the time it was anyway lol.
My friend and I were talking about how they're going to handle the interiors and the accommodations for those, according to Palmer the outside, above the waterline anyway, will be virtually identical but what about the interior spaces? The public areas such as the dining room, palm court restaurant, smoking room and of course the 1st and 2nd class grand staircases will probably be the same but since there are no longer classes on cruise ships will people really pay tons of money to stay in faithfully built steerage cabins that were no larger than a closet?
We'll see I guess but personally speaking they could make me sleep on a deck bench as long as I'm on the damned thing lol.

Regarding the above question about the 70MM IMAX 3D engagement of "Titanic" at the AMC Lincoln Sq in NYC---there was an intermission card. The break occurred soon after the iceberg collision; probably at about the 95-100 minute mark.

If you guys are okay with some levity, I came across this on a Star Trek site. Very well done! Especially the Michael Bay parts and the JJ Abrams bits.

What was your first feeling after watching Titanic the movie?
I'm not a very mushy person when it comes to films, so the love story was a part of the story but not of great consequence to me. I felt the ending was quite feel good factor as the old lady (Rose) finally found peace, and returned the diamond necklace to the ocean. It was sort of her parting gift to Jack, who would still be somewhere down there in spirit, if not in body.
