Ken, I was not trying to be condescending. My apologies.
The green blob is a degradation of the panels. It gets worse over time. I have seen in in many LCOS and LCD units from various manufacturers.
It is with all builds on the Sony. You are correct only on the comment that it affected only early builds (sort of), if you are saying that specific to the Gen 1 unit where it pretty much covered all the different build dates. The temperary Sony fix was to make the sets even more blue. It is less prevalent on the 2nd gen SXRDs.
On a related note...I am also seeing it on some of their front projectors.
On a non related note...i have also seen burn in on some of these rear projs.
