I've been looking at all these threads, and some people have ashed if it's safe t play on an RPTV, what kind of performance do you get w/ the HD pack, and what does it look like on an 16:9 TV.
I took some pictures, and as always, pictures don't do it justice. But I think they came out fairly well.
All I can tell you is that it is AMAZING in person!
The pictures aren't big at all, the largest I think is 40K

Looks good, but I wouldn't play it stretched like that. It's a 4:3 game.

Then again, I certainly understand that many people wouldn't be bothered by this. I don't like the geometry when stretched. Things change height when tumbling through the air, everything looks fat, wheels look wrong, and so on. Also, it makes the control sensitivity seem different on each axis.

Thats too bad if Halo doesn't play in 16:9, because FPS titles are the number one best use for that mode.

The closer to a proper field of vision, the better, with first person shooters.

Things in 4:3 look strange to me anyway now :D
I haven't had it affect my gaming, as I just aim and shoot. Since there is no depth perception, I don't find trying to judge distance to be a problem.
But I can't WAIT to see an XBOX game in 16:9 and 720p...

Damn you Butch, damn you to hell :D
Now I want to rush out and get a large widescreen TV, but I have no money for it.
Anyone care to lend me $4000CDN? :)

I find that on my 40 x 81 HDTV the 480P image is amazing and doesn't look streched at all. I know HALO isn't 16:9 but for some reason this game looks VERY good in that ratio.
(Can't wait to try it out on my Marquee 8000 CRT PJ) :D

As far as I know, Halo is 4:3 only. Look at the radar circle in the pics. It IS stretched. I however, play it stretched on my mits 55".

Actually, I don't think it is 16:9, but I agree--the image doesn't look stretched in the least on my set. The motion tracker in the lower left corner looks perfectly round on my set. Normally, circular images on the sides of the frame will show the most stretching, but I would need a compass I think to find out that the motion tracker isn't 100% true.
Great shots, btw. They make me wish I was back home playing right now! :)

HALO is not 16:9 (You can tell by looking at the radar)

However, it does convert extremely well to 16 x 9 and there have been many arguements over the Aspect Ratio...
