June 22, 1944 - FDR signs the GI Bill for homecoming soldiers.

June 22, 1945 - The battle of Okinawa ends. Japanese Lieutenant General Mitsuru Ushijima commits suicide rather the surrender as the 10th Army Division establishes ground control.

June 22, 1775 - US issues it's first real currency, as bills hit the street.

June 23, 1992 - Don John Gotti sentenced in federal court to prison, where he remains.

June 23, 1940 - Hitler appraises now occupied Paris, and sends orders to his staff that they should look at Paris with marvel and make sure it become the "lesser" city of beauty in comparison with Berlin.

According to Good Morning America Leave It To Beaver made its debut 50 years ago today on October 4, 1955. I was 6 years old at the time and our family had a TV for over a year by then, so I probably saw the episode, but I can't say for sure.

B. Leave it to Beaver? Leave it to Beaver? What about the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, Sputnik Zeymli 1, on 4 October 1957, one of the more significant events in all of human history? :eek:
