Paul: sorry, I can't accept that one. :)
Mr. Kissinger: likewise for Leonard from Memento. I'll leave Walter in as a concession to those who feel that I hate The Big Lebowski (I don't). Good call on the other two picks.
Keep the noms coming! There are still some great candidates out there. Surely someone besides myself has seen Vertigo, Targets and Peeping Tom? And Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan? :D

Um, how exactly is Walter Sobchak mentally ill? He has some anger problems and talks about Vietnam alot, but I don't think he's nuts.

I did not read the rules and foolishly made more than 5 nominations earlier, so would it be impossible for me to nominate John 'Scottie' Ferguson from Vertigo? ;)

Steve, I nominated Hannibal Lecter but don't see it on the main nominations list. Was he disqualified?

Eh, quite right. Adios, Walter.

Erik: he's on there.

Richard: I'll go ahead and throw Vertigo on the noms list.

Second:
Pink Floyd: The Wall - Pink
Vertigo - John 'Scottie' Ferguson

Some more "suggestions":
Margaret White - Carrie (Piper Laurie)
Caligula - Caligula (Malcolm McDowell)
Babs Johnson - Pink Flamingos (Divine)
Henry - Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (Michael Rooker)
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Gunnar Hansen)

IMO, this tournament could easily go to 64.

Probably, but with a few problems. We'd end up with too many run-of-the-mill nutcase villains for one thing. Take the three Dennis Hopper badguys already nominated. While I will never be able to forget Frank Booth, I remember next to nothing of the Deacon or Howard Payne. And I'd really like to stay away from outright horror villains like Leatherface - if I include him, I'd be obligated to open it up to Freddy, Jason, etc.
Basically, this is what I had in mind: an eclectic selection of memorable performances.
As I stated earlier in this thread, I'd like to stick primarily with human characters, though I'll make a few exceptions for the sake of variety. Some noms are tough to call: I threw out Billy from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest because, despite being crazy, he just didn't seem to fit. On a side note, I probably wouldn't accept Karl Childers from Sling Blade due to his mental retardation - some might find his inclusion here to be in poor taste.
List updated.
Brook, good call on Dr. Pretorius! :emoji_thumbsup:

Jen, the omission of A Boy and His Dog was on purpose: I meant to ask for some feedback on it as I haven't seen the movie in years. I don't recall Vic as being crazy, but I could be wrong. Anyone want to make a case for it?

I must say that I'm quite pleased with our list - we're up to 18 and they are all great choices! There are still some excellent picks on the nominations list so keep the seconds and thirds coming. :)
I know someone is going to nominate Santa Sangre and second/third The Ninth Configuration. Right? :)

Regarding A Boy and His Dog, IMHO, Vic's choices throughout the movie show his insanity. But, maybe that's just me.
