The Mattson Theater/Media Room is almost done....One year after starting constuction the carpet was finally installed. Still need to add a dark area rug under the screen and purchase a row of seating. I plan on building an elevated back row in the near future as well...

Pics can be found at: http://www.soundreproduction.com/page8/smattson.html

The HT bug is biting harder and harder by the minute...

Shane

Shane-
It looks great! Can't wait to more pics.

Can you give some more information about what you used for your motorized screen masking? I'm in the process of planning a basement theater, and the more I think about it, I'd really like to use screen masking for all different formats.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments.

MarkMac: My DIY motorized screen masking is quite simple to build using off the shelf parts.

Remote controlled motorized drape masking system on a budget:

Components used:
1. Motorized Drape Controller
http://www.smarthome.com/3142.HTML

2. IR X10 Command Console
http://www.smarthome.com/4040.html

3. X10 Appliance Module
http://www.smarthome.com/2001.html

4. Sony RM-AV3100 Remote

5. DIY Screen/Drape mount/frame to support drape track.

Connect drape track string to Drape Controller/motor. Plug controller/motor into appliance module. Plug IR X10 Command console into wall. Program RM-AV3100 to control X10 devices and then create a macro to turn drape motor on/off. Preset drape motor so that at close, 4:3 masking is applied and at open, 16:9 masking is applied. I programmed 4:3 and 16:9 control buttons on the Sony remote....at the press of a button, I can set either 16:9 or 4:3 vertical masking....

MikeMon: The PC is a future project....right now it is acting as a web server, but a new machine is in the works that will control the media system. I will also be using the HTPC for video signal processing and media storage.

Thanks again guys....I love this game.
