The Shield Season 5 (1 Viewer)

Has anyone heard about when Season 5 of the Shield will be released? I'm a big fan of the show, but have lost track of it. I've seen Season 4 on DVD and am looking forward to the rest.

Any answers I can get would be appreciated.

My *guess* is that Fox is waiting for the end of Season Five
to release the entire set.

Remember, though The Shield has been on hiatus, we
are only halfway through the show's (supposed) final season.

Huh? "Final" season? As far as I know, the current split-up season is the penultimate one....a sixth and final year of the show consisting of 13 episodes will finish the run sometime after that. (Source: for example spoilerfix.com)

Ron, my understanding is that they re-jiggered the 'seasons' around now. The 10 episodes from the second half of the fifth production year are going to be run as S6 and then they're shooting 13 episodes for the seventh and final season.

To guess/answer the question, the S5 DVD will be out before S6 starts running on FX in January. So probably late December or early January.

Yeah, if you read the posts about The Shield that have
been going on earlier this year, the initial plan were to make this
the last season. Last I had read in that thread was that the
show was now in mid-season and the next set of episodes would
make up the season and show's finale.

Happy to hear that they have extended production and that
they will be entering a sixth and seventh season.

So, now that I have this information, there is no doubt that
Fox will be releasing season five in December/January shortly
before FX begins airing the new season. This is the same
gameplan of previous years.

According to TV Shows On DVD, The Shield S6 may not be starting until March so the S5 DVDs will be out then.

Looks like TV Shows On DVD was right- The Shield: Season Five comes out on February 27. There's going to be some nice extras too (including 10 commentaries, 25 deleted scenes, what I assume are making-ofs and a S6 prequel!)
