La-La Land always announces one week before their product goes on sale. So you should be able to place your order on November 8th (which is when I will be placing mine) :)

Thanks for the info. If there's going to this much competition for the F13 set, I need all the edge I can get. :)

TORA! TORA! TORA!

Limited Edition of 2000 units
Retail Price: $19.98
Produced by Lukas Kendall and Nick Redman
Mastered by Daniel Hersch and Mike Matessino

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, La-La Land Records presents two important WWII-themed scores from two giant composers that expertly and thoughtfully examine two landmark events that changed the world forever – the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the completion of the atom bomb.
La-La Land Records and FOX Music commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack with a special re-issue of legendary composer Jerry Goldsmith’s (PATTON, THE OMEN, BASIC INSTINCT, THE EDGE) original score to 20th Century Fox’s 1970 Pearl Harbor docudrama feature TORA! TORA! TORA!, starring Martin Balsam, Joseph Cotten, E.G. Marshall, So Yamamura and Tatsuya Mihashi -- directed by Richard Fleischer, Kinji Fukasaku and Toshio Masuda. Mr. Goldsmith tackles this film’s serious examination of Pearl Harbor with a rich orchestral score that exemplifies his trademark musical genius, fierce intelligence and sympathetic understanding. In depth liner notes by Julie Kirgo and spectacular art direction by Jim Titus focusing on the original art of Robert McCall are a highlight!
Continuing with our WWII theme. . .
FAT MAN AND LITTLE BOY – 2 cd set
Music by Ennio Morricone
LLLCD 1196
Limited Edition of 3000 units
Retail Price: $19.98
Produced by Dan Goldwasser
Mastered by Mike Matessino
Liner Notes by Daniel Schweiger
Art Direction by Dan Goldwasser
We still can’t believe it – after nearly 200 releases we finally have The Maestro on our label. Even more, it’s a never released and, for most of it, HEARD score by him! When we cracked opened the masters we discovered a wealth of material that was completely cut from the 1989 film. Working with Mike Matessino, producer Dan Goldwasser was able to ID all the music that is not heard in the final film to assemble a magnificent soundtrack unheard by most until now. If the movie released in 1989 had all this gorgeous music in it, viewers may have felt differently about the end product. I sure hope you fall in love with this score as much as we did.
La-La Land Records is proud to present the world premiere release of acclaimed composer Ennio Morricone’s (THE MAN WITH NO NAME TRILOGY, THE THING, ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, THE MISSION, THE UNTOUCHABLES) original score to Paramount Pictures’ 1989 docudrama FAT MAN AND LITTLE BOY, starring Paul Newman, Dwight Schultz and John Cusack, and directed by Roland Joffe. Never before released in any format, Mr. Morricone’s hauntingly beautiful and complex orchestral score receives a definitive, 2-CD treatment that demonstrates the composer’s notable skill in emotionally interpreting what is at once an amazing and tragic chapter in mankind’s history – the birth of the atom bomb. Full of dramatic suspense, passion, sadness and gravitas, this is a notable, major Hollywood work by Morricone that is ripe for discovery. This special 2-CD release includes source cues, alternates and exclusive, in-depth liner notes by film music writer Daniel Schweiger.
Now we go from the horrors of War to the horrors of the Holiday season.

DIE HARD – 2 cd set
Music by Michael Kamen
LLLCD 1188
Limited Edition of 3500 units
Retail Price: $29.98
Produced by Eric Lichtenfeld and Nick Redman
Mastered by Daniel Hersch at D2 Mastering and restored by Mike Matessino
Liner Notes by Eric Lichtenfeld and Jeff Bond
Art Direction by Mark Banning
This is one of those dream come true projects – the kind where you hope and pray, if given the opportunity of producing it one day, you get to do it right. While the previous release of this classic score was good, it lacked in a few key areas – sound quality and “Coolness.” Yeah, that’s right – it was not “Cool.” Die Hard is a cool movie with “Cool” Characters, “Cool” Cinematography and “Cool” Music. In order to best the previous release we had to go all out. We spent nearly 2 years on this bad boy looking for all the best elements we could find, any lost music, and, most importantly, looking for those cool needle drops – the exact ones featured in the film. Well, I’m happy to report that this Die Hard release has COOL written all over it.
La-La Land Records and FOX Music present a remastered 2-CD SET of the original motion picture score to 20th Century Fox’s classic 1988 action blockbuster DIE HARD, starring Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman and Bonnie Bedelia, and directed by John McTiernan. Kamen’s score masterfully builds suspense, propelling all the plot’s high-octane action while enriching the characterizations. The DIE HARD experience is rounded out in this presentation with source cues and bonus tracks such as Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”, Vaughn Monroe’s “Let It Snow”, Run DMC’s “Christmas in Hollis,” John Scott’s “We’ve Got Each Other” and more (sadly, we were not able to clear the ALIENS cue or the Stevie Wonder song Argyle rocks out to in the back of the limo)! Yippie-Kay-Yay!
The final title for La-La Land this year is one that has a great history for the label. Back in July, 2008, Dan Goldwasser, Matt and I had a meeting at Paramount Pictures where we laid out what we wanted to do with their music catalog. Impressed with the pitch, we were asked to come up with a wish list of titles we wanted to release. That night the 3 of us emailed each other our respective lists of Paramount Dream Projects. At the top of each of our list was the same title – SCROOGED. This is perhaps Mr Elfman’s “birth film”. . . and by that I mean the movie that gave him the opportunity to create that sound we all know and love today. It’s gothic, haunting, magical and thematic. It has everything you want out of an Elfman score and more! Hints of Batman, Black Beauty, Edward Scissorhands and “Nightmare” can be heard.
When given back the list, Paramount seemed to love the idea of La-La Land releasing Airplane, Dragonslayer, Seconds, Breakdown etc. . . but Scrooged was a bit more difficult at the time. We happily went forth producing all these wonderful Paramount projects, but we always wondered if we would ever work out the legal kinks on Scrooged. Then, one day, a miracle happened by the name of Lukas Kendall. Through his dealings with UMG (on GREMLINS), he managed to work out a deal to allow us to get the rights we needed to produce Scrooged for Paramount through UMG.
Three and a half years later, I am proud to present to you. . .
SCROOGED
Music by Danny Elfman
LLLCD 1195
Limited Edition of 3000 units
Retail Price: $19.98
Produced by Dan Goldwasser
Mastered by Mike Matessino
Liner Notes by Jeff Bond
Art Direction by Dan Goldwasser
An important score in Elfman’s cannon, SCROOGED was the composer’s first big-budget Hollywood score – and one that clearly anticipates his next, and most iconic work, BATMAN. For this wickedly funny and inventive update of the immortal Dickens Christmas classic, Elfman fashions a robust, sophisticated musical tapestry that expertly weaves together the film’s varied tones, which runs the gambit from wildly broad comedy and holiday cheer to gothic horror and emotional drama. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Mike Matessino, this special release features bonus tracks, source cues and exclusive liner notes from film music writer Jeff Bond, with new comments from Director Richard Donner and others.

A WALK IN THE CLOUDS
MUSIC BY MAURICE JARRE
LLLCD 1199
LIMITED EDITION OF 2000 UNITS
RETAIL PRICE: $19.98
PRODUCED BY NICK REDMAN AND MIKE MATESSINO
MIXED AND MASTERED BY MIKE MATESSINO
LINER NOTES BY JULIE KIRGO
ART DIRECTION BY DAN GOLDWASSER
For this Valentine’s Day, La-La Land and 20th Century Fox get their romance on by releasing an expanded version for the Golden Globe award winning score to A WALK IN THE CLOUDS.
Maurice Jarre fashioned one of his most beautiful and powerful scores to the 1995 hit film starring Keanu Reeves and Anthony Quinn. The Alfonso Arau directed romantic tale is set against the vineyard back drop of a post WWII Napa Valley where a soldier falls in love with an unwed, pregnant Mexican-American woman. The lush, almost fairy tale visuals of cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki provide the perfect images for Jarre to compose music that speaks to the heart. Filled with sweeping, colorful themes, this newly expanded edition clocks in at 72 minutes, doubling the running time of previous releases. Julie Kirgo takes the listeners behind the scenes of the film and its music while Dan Goldwasser’s art direction shows off just how beautiful the film looks.
Both cds go on sale next Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 1 pm PST at www.lalalandrecords.com
Sound clips, track listings and cover art will be posted then.
What better way to say BE MINE than by picking up the music of Apes and Keanu for a loved one?

La-La Land Records presents composer Jerry Fielding’s (STRAW DOGS, THE ENFORCER, THE GAUNTLET, SEMI-TOUGH) classic original action score to the legendary 1972 MGM action-thriller THE MECHANIC, starring Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent and directed by Michael Winner. An atmospheric marvel of sonic textures and experimental approaches, Fielding’s chilling score truly is the stone-cold-heart of this classic hitman/apprentice tale. Aside from perfectly capturing action and suspense, Fielding’s score gives the film a depth and resonance beyond its celluloid. Aside from some audio enhancements, a slightly different track order and new packaging and liner notes, the audio content is the same as the Intrada release, so this re-issue is geared for fans who do not currently own that previous release. Produced by Ford A. Thaxton and mastered by James Nelson, this release features in-depth, exclusive liner notes by film music writer Randall D. Larson. This is a limited edition of 1200 units.

RETAIL PRICE $24.98
La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures presents a special 2-CD SET of two original scores to the 1992 Paramount Pictures motion picture thriller JENNIFER 8, starring Andy Garcia, Uma Thurman, and Lance Henriksen and written and directed by Bruce Robinson. Disc One features acclaimed composer Christopher Young’s (HELLRAISER, RUNAWAY JURY, THE CORE, DRAG ME TO HELL) original score – considered to be the composer’s breakthrough work in terms of scoring films for major studios. For this release, Young has re-visited his career-making score and has provided a new, magnificent 48 minute assembly – creating the ultimate presentation of his haunting and beautiful work, a melodic and atmospheric score that injects the film with suspense and human emotion. Disc Two presents renowned composer Maurice Jarre’s (LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, THE PROFESSIONALS, GHOST, A WALK IN THE CLOUDS) unused original score to the same film. Jarre scored about 75% of the film before his music was replaced with Young’s score. About 40 minutes of Jarre’s score is presented here and fans will be delighted to finally have this previously unreleased work, which is in the vein of his music for WITNESS and GHOST. In total, this release is a fascinating look at two different scoring approaches by two immensely talented composers. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Mike Matessino, this limited edition release of 2000 Units includes in-depth, exclusive liner notes by film music writer Jeff Bond.

La-La Land Records presents the world premiere release of acclaimed composer Ennio Morricone’s (THE MAN WITH NO NAME TRILOGY, THE THING, ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, THE MISSION, THE UNTOUCHABLES) original score to Paramount Pictures’ 1989 docudrama FAT MAN AND LITTLE BOY, starring Paul Newman, Dwight Schultz and John Cusack, and directed by Roland Joffe. Full of dramatic suspense, passion, sadness and gravitas, this is a notable, major Hollywood work by Morricone that is ripe for discovery – especially since some of it has never before been heard, as several cues and portions of others were dropped from the final cut of the film. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Mike Matessino, this special 2-CD release includes source cues, alternates and exclusive, in-depth liner notes by film music writer Daniel Schweiger. This is a limited edition of 3000 units.

Regarding the part of the Jennifer 8 soundtrack and the 40 minutes of Maurice Jarre's score...this isn't all of the 75% which he created?

This indie thriller has a dynamite orchestral score by those DYNAMIC MUSIC PARTNERS, Kristopher, Michael and Lolita. Sparse, evocative and full of surprises like the film itself, this intimate soundtrack of southern noir tells the story of Bucky and Earl, two county workers breaking their backs to keep the highways clean of road kill under the scorching Texas sun. When a carcass-removal call turns up something far more disturbing than a flattened armadillo, best friends are torn apart by a decades-old secret that will have them questioning everything they think they know about each other.
As an added bonus, the first 100 customers who purchase the cd directly through our website will receive their booklet autographed by the composers at no extra charge! Quantities are limited.

WINGS
Music by J.S. Zamecnik
Arranged and Orchestrated by Dominik Hauser
LLLCD 1206
Limited Edition of 2000 Units
Retail Price: $19.98
Album Produced by Dan Goldwasser
Music & Album Assembly Produced by Jeannie Gayle Pool and Dominik Hauser
Mastered by James Nelson
Liner Notes by Jeannie Gayle Pool
Art Direction by Dan Goldwasser
In honor of Paramount Pictures' 100th Anniversary, La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures present J.S. Zamecnik's original score, arranged and adapted by Dominik Hauser, to the very first Academy Award for Best Picture, the sensational 1927 WWI-set epic drama/adventure WINGS, starring Clara Bow, Charles 'Buddy' Rogers, Richard Arlen and Gary Cooper, and directed by William A. Wellman. When it was decided to restore the classic WINGS for the studio's centennial, Paramount Pictures commissioned a new arrangement of J.S. Zamecnik's original score (originally played live to picture) to be newly recorded for the film. A prolific composer for films during the silent era, this release marks the very first time that a Zamecnik score has ever been recorded and released. Hauser brings Zamecnik's original score, rich in dramatic, romantic and action material, (as well as peppered with classical compositions), to life in all of its robust, thematic splendor. This music, much like the film's phenomenal aerial sequences, simply soars to exciting heights. Jeannie Gayle Pool, who was asked to produce the score restoration for Paramount, brings you behind the scenes of that process in her in-depth liner notes. This 75 minute release is jam packed with the very best music from this landmark film. What better way to commemorate the restoration of piece of film history than to release a piece of film music history!
Dominik Hauser will autograph the first 100 copies ordered from the La-La Land site (
www.lalalandrecords.com) at no extra charge
The cd will also be available at other fine online soundtrack establishments starting April 24, 2012 at 1 pm pst

An inseparable component of SPEED’s success, Mancina’s full-throttle, iconic score not only punched the film’s action into overdrive, but it has served as a template for action film scoring ever since. Produced by Nick Redman and Mike Matessino and edited and mastered by Mike Matessino, this special remastered and expanded version of SPEED presents its tracks in film order, includes the end titles song, “Speed” performed by Billy Idol, and features in-depth, exclusive liner notes by film music writer John Takis. This is a limited edition of 3000 units.
JENNIFER 8: LIMITED EDITION (2-CD SET) LLLCD 1198
Music by Christopher Young and Maurice Jarre
Limited Edition of 2000 Units
THE MECHANIC: LIMITED EDITION LLLCD 1191
Music by Jerry Fielding
Limited Edition of 1200 Units

ABOUT THE CD RELEASE:
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (3-CD Set)
Music by Jerry Goldsmith
LLLCD 1207
Limited Edition of 10000 Units
La-La Land Records, Sony Music and Paramount Pictures boldly go where no soundtrack reissue has gone before with this deluxe 3-CD set of 1979‘s Star Trek: The Motion Picture, composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith.
The first big screen voyage of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock was a high budget and ambitious undertaking that introduced Goldsmith’s famous and enduring Star Trek march (later used as the main theme for Star Trek: The Next Generation) as the cornerstone of an epic science fiction musical odyssey. Like the film’s refit starship Enterprise, La-La Land’s lavish presentation presents the score anew: fully restored, remixed and mastered from the first generation multi-track masters by Bruce Botnick, the original album co-producer and Goldsmith’s long time scoring engineer.
“To put together the complete score the decision was to go back to the original Analogue 16-track 2-inch 30 i.p.s. masters,” Botnick explains. “John Davis at Precision Audiosonics baked each of the 37 rolls in a convection oven at 110º for eight hours so that they were playable, then rolled out a marvelous 3M 56 IsoLoop 16-track machine with brand new heads. The tapes were resolved at 60Hz to maintain the original orchestral pitch and sync. The Analogue-to-Digital transfer was done from the 16-track through the latest Black Lion A/D convertors and recorded to Pro Tools X at 192kHz 24-bit.”
This 3-CD set presents the score for the 1979 theatrical release (filling disc 1 and part of disc 2) and also premieres the legendary early “rejected” cues that Goldsmith recorded prior to composing his famous main theme. The 1979 album program (much of which is performed and edited differently as compared to the film) completes disc 2, with disc 3 offering additional alternates (including those heard on the previous Sony expanded release) along with a wealth of bonus material. Among the highlights are a collection of early takes of the “Main Title” (including extensive stage chatter), isolated segments featuring Craig Huxley’s famous “blaster beam” and assorted synthesizer excerpts, the domestic CD debut of Bob James’ disco cover version of Goldsmith’s theme and Shaun Cassidy’s vocal version of the love theme, “A Star Beyond Time.”
Reissue co-producer Mike Matessino (who handled restoration and editorial efforts) collaborates with Jeff Bond on the thoroughly researched album notes which feature interview excerpts by Goldsmith, Botnick and performers Huxley and David Newman. The clamshell packaging and 40-page full color booklet are designed by Jim Titus.
“It has been an honor to be able to work with the original recordings of this music and to document its production,” Matessino says. “This is one of the greatest scores of all time and everyone involved took the responsibility very seriously and happily devoted months to see it come together. The clarity and quality we now have is truly amazing. Thanks to the efforts of La-La Land Records, Sony Music and Paramount Pictures, the end product is an embarrassment of riches and a ‘must-have’ for every film music and Star Trek collection.”
