I realize now that it is impractical to try and list the names of all the movies watched. List will get pretty long after a while, so I'll just keep count. Count is at 28 watched since beginning on January 1.

Still counting how many owned, creating the database in DVD Profiler. Have entered 88 so far, but still have a ways to go.

I've made it very clear to her if we ever divorce, she can have the kids, the cars, the house, everything, but I get the DVDs. :)

Anybody else come to realize that there are some movies we own, that we would rather not watch again?

Still building the database, currently up to 341 owned, and as of 1/1/05, 39 watched. Having a great time!

Ready to Rumble

I've been doing more with the TV challenge as I think its the one I have the better chance to complete...and yet I just keep adding more films to my collection.

So is anyone finding titles they want to eliminate from their collection? Or has revisiting some films made you fall in love with them all over again?

Funny enough, I've only found one title that I loved years
ago and I find it pretty lame now and that's Beastmaster.
I'll probably end up selling it. As I'm weeding through
my collection, I think I have a tendency to pick those that
I really liked. I have quite a few up for sale so I guess I'm hoping to sell them before I have to watch it.;)
There are some titles that I enjoy but if I was to buy today I'd either be on the fence or I wouldn't buy it.
Strictly Ballroom, Calendar Girls, Manchurian Candidate all
blind buys spring to mind. I was a real Star Trek nut at one time but I noticed that with each subsequent viewing my
interest is fading. I can't think of any movie right now
that I've fallen in love with again. I'll have to think about that one some more.

Im certainly finding films I havent watched for ages. One of the good things about doing this is it is giving me a good idea which films I would upgrade to HD-DVD or Blu-ray and which films I wouldn't bother with.

I believe that my reviews are very fair. Based on 4 stars.

Anchorman *1/2 I usually like movies with stupid humor, but this was a horrible movie, I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

The Manchurian Candidate ** This movie had some nice action, but there is nothing new here.

Collateral *** Terrific movie, fantastic script. Sound was amazing.

The Bourne Supremacy *** Nonstop action, as good as the first.

Spiderman 2 *** Not as good as the first, but still worth a recommendation. obviously the special effects where first rate, sound fantastic.

Harry Potter & The Prisoner Of Azkaban *** I believe the weakest to date but you cannot go wrong with Potter.

The Terminal ***1/2 Believe it or not my favorite movie in the last year. It is hard to believe that a movie based in an airport terminal could hold your attention, but I never left the screen for a second. The sound in this movie is first rate, the surround speakers are used beautifully throughout.

Paparrazi ** This movie kept my attention throughout, which is amazing considering it was not a very good movie.

The Village *** to ** The first part of the movie was very good, but once I learned the plot it fell off fast.

Mean Creek ** I was expecting more from this movie, not very good.

Ladder 49 ** Again I was expecting much more from this movie, not what I expected.

Cellular **1/2 I enjoyed this movie for some reason. This is a typical suspense which has been done a hundred times, but I enjoyed it.

Raging Bull (Collectors) **** Yes, I watched this movie for probably the 10th time, but why not it is one of the best movies ever made. This movie is a must see.

It's a little late, but with my number of DVD's owned, I think I can still finish the challenge by the end of the year. I'm planning to watch the movies and all extras, excluding commentaries. Grades given (on a five-star scale) are based on the overall DVD (movie, A/V quality, extras, packaging, etc.).

Total Number of DVDs Watched: 3

April
Rushmore: Criterion Collection - ****1/2
Sunset Boulevard - *****
The Ice Storm - **1/2

There is no way I'll finish this challenge now with a new job, a move to a new apartment, and a new girlfriend all coming along in march it was just too much. Its not really the watching of the movies that's the problem, its the keeping track of when I watched them to post in this thread I can't keep up with.

Highlights of march watching though include:
Napoleon Dynamite, The Incredibles, and Ladder 49 (I liked it a lot)
