I've seen the TV shows complete and uncut. They vary from station to station as to what's snipped, but I've seen them. The last thing I want to do is take away from the thrill of having this television show out, but don't slight the "extras" DVD that was cancelled either. And while I have the pilot and some other material, I do not have everything that was listed in that Image release -- and certainly not the documentaries on the cast members, like "More than a Munster", "Guilded Lily," "Forever Grandpa"....

What are the chances of a few early copies slipping onto Ebay?

Cool. I enjoy the Munsters TV show, I've have seen this show many times. I have this show listed on my DVD Aficionado & Amazon.com Wishlists to purchase in the near future.

Now, if only the Addams Family would come to DVD in season format then I would be happy TV on DVD watcher.

With its release only two weeks away (WOOHOO!!!) I have yet to hear anything definite on the America's First Family of Fright companion DVD. In fact, it's now available for queueing (is that a word?) at Netflix. I'm confused!

They didn't realize until a couple weeks before street date that they didn't have the rights to distribute the material? What a bunch of maroons.

I wouldn't blame Image - it could very well be a case of two of Universal's legal arms or other departments not talking to one another. This happens more than folks realize at big companies.

My guess is that one of Uni's DVD product managers probably saw what was going on and reined in the rights when he figured the content may better be used to goose the second season's sales a bit.

Even if Uni didn't own or have the materials in the Image set handy, (someone else may have archived them) Uni could still put the brakes on it by claiming copyright on character likenesses or creative content such as music cues. They likely own all the rights.

Video Universe is now listing this for pre-order with a Dec. 31st release date??

Is there any possibility at all that some retailers will let copies slip through like the recent Ed Wood situation?

I really want to get my hands on this set!!

I have signed but I'd also like to know when the petition would be sent to Universal. Hopefully more will sign as I was #26....

Just learned about this news today.

Yes, I can often be the last person to find
    out such things.

After reading the review on DVDTALK I was quite
upset to learn that this disc was cancelled. Judging
from the review, this looked as if it would be an
incredible amount of material for die-hard Munster
    fans like myself.

I do hope that someone picks up the rights to this
    set.

    R -

How has this topic gone astray?

Don't you think the cancelled Image supplemental
DVD issue is relevant to The Munsters?

    From VIDEO BUSINESS 8?9/2004:

    MONSTER MASH:

"Image has pulled "The Munsters: America's First Family of Fright" from its August 24 street date. Kevin Burns, producer of the title featuring documentaries with cast members, said it was voluntarily pulled. As a self-described "Munsters" fan, he said he didn't want to create competition for Universal's release of "The Munsters" on DVD, also set to street on August 24. A & E has also aired the docs included in "America's First Family." Burns has asked Universal to distribute "First Family" in the future, possibly as part of a second season Munsters DVD package."

Well I think that press blurb is a nice way of saying they did'nt have the rights to this stuff.
