That's a very good question. And I'm not one to defend the last three seasons of "The Lucy Show," but playing the devil's advocate, it's possible that Mr. Mooney, with his personality, had trouble keeping secretaries.
So they're kind of a good match: No one else would hire Lucy but Mr. Mooney, and no one else would work for Mr. Mooney but Lucy.
