Does anyone know the status of THE LOVED ONE (1965)? I seem to recall that it was mentioned that WB was "working" on it in a chat a couple of years ago. The laserdisc restored the Barbara Nichols footage, but there are photos of Jayne Mansfield and Ruth Gordon in footage that was cut from the pre-release prints. It would be wonderful if they could locate this and generate a Special Edition with a commentary by Robert Morse, Anjanette Comer, Jonathan Winters, Tab Hunter, Bernie Koppell, and Jamie Farr. Its fascinating and chaotic production history merits a formal documentary.

This hysterical movie is long overdue to be released on DVD. I caught it for the first time around five years ago on TCM and couldn't believe what I was watching. The moment I saw "Mrs. Joyboy" I said to myself, "what the heck IS this"?!?!?
