Well, looks like posting has slowed down...should I start the tournament, shooing in all the current noms and maybe adding a few to even out the numbers?
While I applaud the effort, I'm afraid this tourney will be dead in the water. It seems people will regularly watch widely varied films, but not listen to widely varied music. I'm not really familiar enough with John Scofield to vote. In the end, I expect you will have a lot of abstains in every round. Still, I'll be here to vote when I can.
BTW, my hat is off to you for getting Charlie Christian in there. That was one great guitarist who most people outside the real jazz fanatics have never heard of.
Erg...I suppose it would maybe give it a jumpstart if I took out the more obscure guitarists? I guess it's my fault for wanting so many in...there are so many worthy guitarists that nobody knows about :frowning:
Alright, this thread's dead, so what I'm going to do is discontinue it. However, for the few of you who are interested in participating in a thread like this, I've started another one over on wholenote.com: http://www.wholenote.com/fretbuzz/fb...&t=1&th=161806
It should work much better over there, since the place is chock full of guitar enthusiasts .
It looks like you are getting a better range of musicians in the tourney, which I'm glad to see. I would like to participate, but there will just be too many I don't know. I'm surprised to see there is no Mark Knopfler yet. I'm also hoping Howard Alden and Charlie Christian will make it in somehow.
