Welcome to The Amazing Race 11 HTF Challenge. Like in previous challenges, each person will get to pick one team who they think will win The Amazing Race. Then pick three teams who you think will round out the final four teams, and these three teams will not be exclusive per participant, meaning the same team can be added to any final four. Points will be awarded if your team wins The Amazing Race, in addition to having any of your final four teams (including your race winner pick) finish in second, third, or fourth place. Since there is no jury like on Survivor, that can't be part of the point scale, so to replace that I will award points to any team that uses a fast forward or a yield on another team. The points scale is as follows:

First place (race winner pick): 25
First place (final four pick): 20
Second place: 15
Third place: 10
Fourth place: 5
Winner of Individual Leg: 3
Fast Forward: 3
Yield: 3

Here is the list of teams, more info can be found at the CBS The Amazing Race All Stars website, along with the general HTF discussion thread here. I'll list each member on the first two lines, followed by a line with their relationship to each other and then a line stating their placement in their original season. As each team is picked, I'll denote the selection with a line in bold print above the selected team and I'll add the rest of the final four alphabetically below the race winner pick as each selection is posted:

Rob and Amber are history. I have to say that I've never rooted so hard for a team to lose (and I had them in my final four since I thought they would lie their way to that position.) I know that it's a "race" and all that this implies but I really didn't care for their methods. Certainly not an example for others to follow, IMHO. Let's hope that this is the last we see of those two since I feel that they took more away from this program than they gave. I welcome their race into obscurity.

My 2 cents.

Here's what each team was worth:

John Vito/Jill - 0
Kevin/Drew - 0
David/Mary - 0
Rob/Amber - 9
Teri/Ian - 0
Joe/Bill - 0
Uchenna/Joyce - 6
Oswald/Danny - 23
Charla/Mirna - 16
Dustin/Kandice - 30
Eric/Danielle - 20-25

It's a close footrace between the top three...Patrick Sun, Joseph S, and Travis S are turning the corner and running to the mat...

Joseph S - 66 narrowly wins, because his #1 pick, Dustin/Kandice beat out...
Travis S - 66 's #1 pick, Charla/Mirna
Patrick Sun - 64

Walter C - 53
AnthonyC - 43
RAF - 35
MatthewLouwrens - 29
brentl - 15
Chris Morris - 0

In future seasons, we'll probably go with the current AI HTF Challenge model...congrats Joseph!

A very exciting finish (to our contest, not the actual race - which was sort of a foregone conclusion once each team completed the final task).

Congratulations to Joseph S. Well done!

I'm looking forward to the next AR season and would also encourage the use of the "Top Ten" Challenge model (or a variation thereof, depending on the number of teams entered.) I think that if there are 11 teams (or more) once again that we should let people watch the show until there are only ten entries left (like we did for AI). That way we have the following benefits:
  • Most people get to see, firsthand, the faces and actions behind the names and bios for handicapping purposes.
  • More than one person can choose the same team to win the race.
  • We aren't limited to ten entrants.
  • Picking the correct order of finish is a lot more challenging than picking the top four -and you don't get shut out of selecting your favorite to win the race in all likelihood.
  • The scoring is generally much more straight forward. We don't worry about individual immunities, winning legs, etc. etc. It's all about picking the winners (and the losers).
The only other thing to consider is that we could start the challenge when there are more than 10 teams involved. That way, there is an additional challenge to pick the top ten as well as the order of finish. Of course, then it's more a shot in the dark since there is very little to go on other than some bio fluff at the show's website. Let's talk about this....
