Saw Red 2 today and enjoyed it a lot. My memory of the first one is vague, but I probably liked this one more because of Byung-hun Lee. Glad to see he has a really good part in this. I didn't see GI: Joe Retaliation yet (will wait for the blu), but his role in the first one wasn't very substantial.

Finally watched X-Men Origins Wolverine last night in case I decide to see Wolverine. People seem to hate this movie on various forums, but I didn't think it was bad. (And of course, I got a little Taylor Kitsch.) I view most of these comic book films without being too familiar with the comics. (I mainly read the Batman and Superman ones as a kid, and I liked The Teen Titans and Justice League. Never was into X-Men and Fantastic Four.)

I watched Despicable Me several nights ago and thought it was charming. Saw DM2 this weekend. I like Steve Carell's voice work, but found Kristen Wiig really annoying in this and didn't care too much for the other side characters.

Hey I can post! the sites flaky for me at home using chrome browser. Huh!

I saw Pacific Rimmers last week, I liked it! A fun giant robot movie. Why are the Transformers films so boring and shit? Anyway, good stuff, though as Steve said, with all the darkness, rain and giant-ness of the beasts, it was hard to see what was going on in some of those fights. Especially after Man of Steel destroyed entire towns in broad, see everything daylight. 4/5

Off to see The Conjuring today. If there's one thing I love, it's gory torture porn. This ghost story should hopefully be good too though. :D

I'll probably check out THE WOLVERINE! next week. I'm one of those that thought Wolverine: Origins was pretty dumb, so I'm not too excited for this new one. It's based on a pretty good Claremont/Miller comic though, so maybe it will be better. The Act Of Killing is playing our independent theater this weekend. I'm dying (har har har) to see it, but the showtimes suck and it's not the directors cut. Might still try to squeeze it in though.

We saw PR last night.I would have given 4.5 stars but it was a tad long and wanted more on where those things came from. Also I didn't quite understand what the hole was.Was it a wormhole or a tunnel? Was it alive? So 4. Stars.Action was great but wish it had daytime fights.I've seen people pat that they want a longer cut. Hmm not sure I do.

On a film related note - has anyone managed to see the very low budget "A Hijacking"?

I really want to see this one, but even in Houston I can't find a showtime.
Just read that this will be out on Blu-ray on October 15.

The upcoming "Captain Phillips" directed by Paul Greengrass is also about a cargo ship (but U.S.) hijacked by Somali Pirates.

I ended up seeing The Conjuring. It was good! A nice creepy haunted house horror film. There are perhaps a few too many jumps scares, but it does work and build some good suspense. The cast was great, yup, it was good! 4/5 I recommend!

I also saw Only God Forgives. I had high hopes for this one since I really liked Drive. It's not great. The director seems to want to be clever like David Lynch and actually dedicated the film to Alejandro Jodorowsky. So imagine a revenge film directed by those two and it gives you idea on what to expect. Okay performances marred by direction that draws too much attention to itself. 2.5/5

Only God Forgives sounds way too violent and gory for me. Too bad. I hate when actors I like pick overly violent films. For example, I can't see I Saw the Devil for Byung-hun Lee because it just sounds too gruesome.

I enjoyed The Way, Way Back. Sam Rockwell was just perfect for that character. Well, actually, it feels more like Sam Rockwell made the character fit his uniqueness. Also enjoyed Steve Carell in a different type of role for him.

I was too tired to go to a movie yesterday so I'm really falling behind on the movies. Still want to see The Wolverine, Fruitvale Station and I'm So Excited (this has pretty bad reviews, but it's still Almodovar). And 2 Guns opens this week.

Saw The Wolverine this weekend. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. I liked the Japanese setting. As usual, there is a scene within the credits. (I must admit I get confused by the chronological order of the parts of the different franchises. Between missing several of the X-Men series and my bad memory, I don't know what happened previously regarding a character in The Wolverine, either. I plan to eventually watch the ones I missed.)

Might go and see Wolverine this week. Elysium is coming up fast, I hope it's good.

I did see Welcome to the Punch and Trance, both good and worth seeing. Rosario Dawson co-stars in the latter, her full frontal might be a first in a mainstream movie, she's not a shy girl.

Saw Blue Jasmine this weekend. I didn't care for it. Cate Blanchett was excellent and is sure to get nominations, but I found the movie-ful of whiny, self-centered characters a bit much after a while. Surprisingly, the character who came off best turns out to be played by a very good Andrew Dice Clay.

I saw 2 Guns. I enjoyed the banter between Denzel and Mark, but the story was rather mundane and sloppily told.

And I was able to fit in I'm So Excited! before it left town. Just me and 2 guys in the audience for a weekday matinee. One of them walked out (during the best scene in the film). I think he may not have realized it featured some rather flamboyant characters. Come on, how can you not smile at a trio of stewards dancing and lip syncing to the Pointer Sisters?!?!?? :D I did expect more from even fluff Almodovar, though.

Saw Drug War this weekend. Good movie -- I usually enjoy Johnnie To's films. Love Louis Koo. Also saw Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. (I did not see "Lightning Thief".) I mainly saw it for Logan Lerman and found it kind of juvenile -- but I'm not the intended audience. I was a bit surprised they made this sequel, but I guess it fills a certain niche. Quite optimistic of them to set it up for a 3rd.

I watched Overheard 2 on blu-ray last night. Really liked it. Kind of threw me at first because it stars the same cast from Overheard, but they are all playing new characters.
