Tell me about W I D E speakers (1 Viewer)

Okay, so I have a 7.1 setup in my home theater.

I have 2 sets of overhead Atmos speakers.

When I set all of this up through my Denon receiver, there was the option of adding WIDE speakers.

These speakers seem to sit between the side and front channels.

Should these be something I should be looking into? Are discs encoded to take advantage of these wide channels?

"wide" is post processing(like DPL IIz was).

Wide and Atmos can't be used at the same time.

Works very well on music.

But, if you've got the speakers and the space, you could set up a 9.1.2 Atmos system.

Is anything actually set up for 9.1.2? Thought that was next years stuff(yep...advancement marches on...)
