Did someone retype this release, or did people at Fox really say "thermin" repeatedly? The instrument referred to is a theremin.

I thought that this was initially slated to be part of the Fox Cinema Classics series of releases and was looking forward to a beautifully designed original poster art cover.

What the hell is this disappointingly ugly Men In Black looking thing; is there a new movie coming out in theaters to prompt this? I never thought the original cheapie Fox Studio Classics release would look an improvement over anything else out there.

PS - While I'm generally against BR exclusives, those extra "interactive" features sound entirely dumb and not worth having if offered on SD.

I came across some info on this disc on another site, what a surprise. And very cool to hear it's also coming on blu-ray. I guess it's no surprise as the remake is near.

I was wondering if the new SD-DVD 2 disc had anything new that the 2004 disc does not. And it looks like some of the material is the same from the 2004 disc. I think the audio commentary is great. And interesting that these 2 directors who do the commentary had done a Star Trek film.

This is a worthy double dip for the blu-ray version.

I was curious what the SD-DVD 2 disc version has and this is what I found on DVDTown's site:

    DVD edition Bonus Features:
    Disc 1:
-Commentary by Robert Wise and Nicolas Meyer
-Commentary by Film & Music Historians John Morgan, Steven Smith, William Stromberg & Nick Redman
    -Isolated Score Track
    Disc 2:
-The Making of The Day The Earth Stood Still
-Decoding "Klaatu, Barada, Nikto": Science Fiction as Metaphor
-A Brief History of Flying Saucers
-Edmund North: The Man Who Made the Earth Stand Still
    -The Astounding Harry Bates
-Farewell to the Master: An Audio Presentation of the Original Short Story
-1951 Fox Movietone News (featuring the film's premiere)
    -Restoration Comparison
    -Theatrical Trailer
    -Still Galleries

I just read Farewell to the Master, so it's pretty cool they've included an audio presentation of the short story!
