Prepare for BIG laughs and BIG adventure!

Dives Onto Blu-ray and DVD With Loads of Fun and Great Value for Moms on April 19, 2011

A hilarious zero-to-hero story about a larger-than-life Average Joe, GULLIVER’S TRAVELS sails on to 2-disc DVD with Gulliver’s Fun Pack and 3 disc Triple Play with Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on April 19, 2011. This family-friendly misadventure features side-splitting moments with epic wedgies, Lilliputian foosball, and a square-off duel with a robot!

Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda, School of Rock) brings his irreverent humor to this adventure-comedy based on the classic tale. To impress the pretty newspaper travel editor Darcy (Amanda Peet, 2012), an underachieving mailroom clerk named Gulliver (Black) takes a writing assignment traveling to Bermuda. When a shipwreck lands him on the fantastical island of Lilliput, he transforms into a giant — in size and ego! Gulliver’s tall tales and heroic deeds win the hearts of the tiny Lilliputians, but when he loses it all and puts his newfound friends in peril, Gulliver must find a way to undo the damage. Through it all, Gulliver may just learn that it’s how big you are on the inside that counts.

GULLIVER’S TRAVELS also stars Jason Segel (I Love You, Man), Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), Amanda Peet (Something’s Gotta Give) and Chris O’Dowd (Dinner for Schmucks).

GULLIVER’S TRAVELS will be available on 2-disc DVD for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S. / $34.99. Canada, 3 Disc Blu-ray includes Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy for the suggested retail price of $34.99 U.S. / $49.99. Canada. Canada and on Canada. Pre-book is March 23.

Isn't this yet another film that played in 3D in theaters and now is not going to be released in a 3D home edition? Very disappointing for those of us with 3D capability.

    Matt, Good catch.

I don't know why Fox is not planning to release this 3D.

It could only help sales for home release.

Something tells me they may be planning a hardware

exclusive with this title, though in my opinion, it would

be a poor choice of title to bundle.

I agree with you. It was not a hit in theaters, so any exclusivity deal with this title wouldn't seem to be a very special offering.

Was it filmed in 3D or an upconversion? I haven't heard anything about it being exclusive either, so not sure why Fox decided to do 2D only.

That's odd, since Amazon has a listing for the 3D blu-ray version of Gulliver: http://www.amazon.com/Gullivers-Travels-Blu-ray-Jack-Black/dp/B004P7CN2C/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2EAURIMSDGRSS&colid=30BT13QL212BG

I believe it was filmed in 3D. Nothing I have read about it suggests it was a late conversion a la Clash of the Titans.

On March 23, 2010, Fox announced that the film would be converted to 3D. It's original release was June 3rd 2010, but was pushed to December 2010 to allow for the conversion. In theatres there were a lot of gripping about the lack of 3D effects. This film, along with Clash Of The Titans, The Last Airbender, and The Green Hornet, have given 3D films a black eye. The studio's are certainly biting the hand that feeds them.
