Can someone answer a question for me - if an all region European blu ray is played in the United States, is there going to be PAL speed up ?

I haven't experience it on any of the several Region B releases I've purchased.

I imagine that Kino will get the same master that was released in Australia, so most likely it will be mono. However, if Kino manages to dig up the multi-channel tracks from the 70mm release prints, I will be very happy, but I am blind-buying the Kino Blu-ray either way.

A 1080p BD will not have PAL speed-up. Some 1080i 50Hz BDs have been released in Europe. These will have PAL speedup just as the PAL DVDs do. Many U.S. TVs do not support 50Hz discs as well.

Some 1080p PAL BD's do have speedup as they are 25 instead of 24/23.976 Hz - it is rare but one may come across such a disc from time to time.
