No kidding. Jerri is down right nice compared to the young-uns on Sambo. Brandon is the most useless on the team. It is good to see, that for the heavy-lifting in the immunity challenge that he is not one of the four that had to do all the carrying. He was chosen to be one of the re-assemblers. What a wimp!

The splitting into 3 groups is interesting, but is it fair to change the rules to a game midway through?
Is it just me or did anyone find Jeff's discussion of strategy for the upcoming merger during tribal council to be a bit inappropriate? I can see questioning and commenting on what has happened, but to openly speculate on how things will go after the merger is over the line, IMHO.

I think Survivor has been around long enough for the rules and the implications of extraneous votes as a factor to be fair game for Jeff to discuss. I actually like that he challenges the tribes to be "honest" with him at tribal council. The "frankness/squirming" is refreshing. He's trying to get the tribes to think and vote strategically, but it seems only the Moron tribe is listening.

I didn't know that any merge was even part of the rules. I thought it was just a way to twist the game and change the group dynamics.
In the first season were the players even aware of a merge? I thought they were really taken by surprise if I remember correctly. Then in the second season that's all they talked about. It would be good to introduce another twist in the third season. Splitting the group into 3 tribes right now would have some nice advantages that would put a whole new level into the survivor game. Stratagies would need to change.

It would seem that some of the survivors still haven't figured out that it pays to stay under the radar and not ruffle feathers (enough to attract votes at tribal council).
The rules of Survivor always adhere to the social aspect of getting along with the rest of the tribe, while also excelling in the challeges to remain strong. Jeff preaches this, but it doesn't matter, when you are with these strangers, under these survival condition, people just react differently than they would in a comfortable settings. That's part of the "charm" of Survivor over the other gameshows. It's a delicate balancing act, and most are good in one area, but not the other, and vice-versa.

It's interesting that the two people who have been booted first (if you read the Final Chat over at the CBS site) never watched the first two Survivors. It seems like people were picked to be on the show for their utter cluelessness.

Why wouldn't Lindesy hug Linda? Because she was acting like a crazy person! At that moment Linda seemed like she could literally have stabbed Lindsey in the back with a knife if Lindsey had hugged her back, she seemed to be completely insane...
I've never seen a more hostile hugging than that one! Linda's got psycho-bitch vibes pouring out of every pore.
Funny thing is, so does Lindsey! Them two's a pair I'd never wanna be stranded anywhere with.
I agree that Jerri was just an old-fashioned Heather, sorta quaint in a "God I hated high school" sorta way, next to these two insane femmes!

Forgive me for asking again but this is bugging me.
When you watched this last show (Nov. 1), did it begin with the usual Jeff recap "Two tribes in the heart of Africa... losing the quiz... Carl's torch was extinguished"?
Or did it start with music full, footage of every player with their name super, and the opening logo?
Here in Portland the show started the latter way at about 8:05. This makes me think that they are selling extra local spots at the expense of the opening piece that brings people up to date.
I'm sure this would piss off CBS (even more than me).

If you haven't checked out Link Removed (rumored to be owned by Mark Burnett) yet, then do so. The episode summaries are usually hilarious.

If Teresa and Frank were smart they would try to lure Kim and Brandon to their side. How? Simply put, both Silas and Lindsey have numerous votes between them. There's no way they are going to win this game. If Kim and Brandon join the two older ones, then theoretically they would have four people(if it came down to it) without votes going into the merge. The physical challenges would be harder without Silas, but they could do it.
Since we really don't know what Jeff's preview was alluding to, we could assume that this is a possibility?
Any comments?

Just a reminder that the winners of Survivor 1 and 2 were both in their forties. :)

If there is going to be a split into 3 groups of 4 do you think that it was planned ahead of the start of shooting the show? I guess what I mean is how much of the show (reward and immunity challenges for example) is custom tailored to how the tribes are doing? If there's one tribe that's killing the other in physical challenges does Jeff then say 'let's give them a intelligence test to even it up'? Does jeff react to what's unfolding in order to keep it interesting?
I ask this because if they didn't plan the rumored 3-way split prior to filming then is it a reaction to the way the Samburu Four are playing the game? Could Jeff think that if the Samburu Four stick with the open admissions of who they're voting for next then we'll always have a very good idea of who's going next. That wouldn't make for good TV and we all know that that is THE most important thing for CBS.
End conspiracy mode.
It's also possible that if there is a new 3-way split that it's only purpose is to keep the show fresh for the viewer. After all, they changed the ending for Survivor 2. I wouldn't be suprised if the producers feel that every version of Survivor is subject to random variations from the core structure. Different location, different group of people, different variations.
It's certainly interesting to speculate.

I don't think there is anything wrong with changing up the format to Survivor, if that is what the case is. Whether it is done on a minute-to-minute basis and CBS is recognizing that this current show is getting too predictable is open to speculation.

What I am curious about is when these episodes were taped.
What I'm thinking is, were they all out there on Sept. 11? If so, seems likely they will be told (by Jeff) what has taken place back in America and offers might be made to let whoever wants to leave go. I was pondering this possibility before the show even started.
This could very well be what happens next week. If one person leaves as a result, it would mean no tribal council that week and could change the entire dynamic of the game, depending who decides to go.

I'm pretty sure this thing was all wrapped up by Sept 11th. They started filming in June, if I remember correctly.
