I guess I'm becoming desensitized, but when she got decapitated, I said, in my best announcer voice, "FATALITY!"

I read today at Supernatural.tv that the CW seems to be pleased with the ratings that Supernatural is getting so far. Unfortunately they didn't post a link to the full story, but here's what is on the front page:
THE CW'S "SMALLVILLE" AND "SUPERNATURAL" POST WEEK-TO-WEEK GAINS AGAINST TOUGH THURSDAY COMPETITION

"Supernatural" posted increases over last week of 7% in adults 18-49 (1.6/4), 6% in women 18-34 (1.8/4), 14% in women 18-49 (1.6/4) and 11% in viewers (3.70mil).
EDIT: I found the original article over at The Futon Critic.

It is one of their higher rated shows, relatively speaking, and it does this on the most competitive night of the week.

When you've got 50 million viewers split between "CSI" and "Grey's Anatomy," there's not much left over for the other shows.

I'm just a little disappointed that it seems to have lost about 1 million viewers from last season. I'd hoped with people talking about it and the DVD release that it would have actually gained a few.

Hey guys not sure if you remember I used to post here on the Supernatural Season 1 thread..for some reason I stopped...but want to say I'M BACK!!!!

:)

Anywho thought you might want to read this interview Eric Kripke did with TV Guide (spoilers abound....)

the best quote from Eric:

TVGuide.com: And CSI is just about another dead person.
Kripke: Right. What do you want? Forensic fingernails, sex in a hospital, or good ol' red-blooded, classic-rock demon fighting?

I don't really understand how they get the rating numbers, but isn't CW carried on fewer stations than WB was? I know Hawaii had the WB, but does NOT have CW -- and I imagine there are other places like this, too. (I am having to keep up with "Supernatural" via other means.)

The end scene was important stuff. I didn't get it when Dean kept insisting that dead things should stay dead. I thought he was talking about his father, not himself. :frowning:

The shooting scene was kind of poorly staged. They were shooting right at the roommate. She should have been placed on the other side or something.

No music at all, I think? I know they said the music is cheap, but maybe they've blown the budget on the recaps. :D

I thought this was another really great episode. Other than last week, I've been really pleased with the quality of the show this season. In fact, I thought season 1 was pretty awesome too. There were a few clunkers, but they were mostly great. Thinking back on some of my favorite shows, I'd say Supernatural stands ahead of the pack for having an exceptional first season.

The only thing that bothered me this week was how the brothers were once again able to dig an absolutely perfect rectangular hole in the ground. Ok, this grave was pretty fresh. But everytime they dig up a grave, they dig perfect holes.

Jensen Ackles is doing some EXCELLENT work this season. I just rewatched "In My Time of Dying" last night before watching the new ep. I think he should be considered for an Emmy nom based on those two eps alone. Of course, we all know Emmy's huge bias against genre shows, so it'll never happen. But one can dream....

The porn thing was funny! At least Sam was just watching and not, er...participating. That would have been even more "awkward," as Dean put it.

I still don't understand why people would prefer to watch "CSI" or "Grey's Anatomy" over this show. SN just keeps getting better.

Yay. I'm not one to read future recaps, but I couldn't help but notice that the word "Jo" starts off the recap of the episode airing a week from Thursday. Yay! Starring role! Make her a regular!

I don't know why too even though Kripke has SAID (about SPN) it's "good ol' red-blooded, classic-rock demon fighting"

Okay, this eps not even over yet but I have to comment right now...

"He full-on Obi-Waned me.."

ROTFLMAO

It's funny both for the comment itself and the fact that I was imagining Ewen McGregor in full Jedi regalia waving his hand calmly saying "You WILL give me your Impala." and then driving away lol.

A lot of out-of-nowhere ala Final Destination type vehicular accidents tonight, both on Smallville and here.

Dean was just a scream tonight, I was so afraid that after he found that bong they were going to pan to a shot of him using it lol.

Travis, didn't you watch The Night Stalker (2005)? This episode was at least superficially similar to the Burning Man episode, in that both featured someone mind-controlled to self-immolate at a gas station.

Heh. It was cool that Dean was digging on the trashy van. This show sometimes feels like it should be set in the '70s--probably because of the music--and that van was straight out of the '70s.

I won't even mention the best part of the episode, though. :D
